What is the Maximum range that you would shoot with a recurve or a long bow at a deer.I'm good at 10 and 15 yards. I'm working hard on 20 but not there yet.

I'd probably go out to 25yds or so if everything seemed right. My furthest deer kill was 22(killed a groundhog at 37 once)....most have been under 15yds

My farthest kill was on a deer- 22 yards twice. 95% of the time I let everything pass at 20 yards unless my shooting Is 100% on at the time. I always shoot before each hunt. It determines my max shooting range for that hunt. Sometimes It's 15 yards, other times It's 20 yards. I like my animals at that 10 yard range.

For sure I like to shoot before the hunt. It's good to know what range other people shoot at.I know with the compound I can shoot far, but I like to keep them in the 20 to 30 yard range.

I would not hesitate at 15yds and come August in Colorado, I'll be good for 20yds.

I really don't have a "max" yardage, I either feel good about the shot and take it, or I don't!

my farthest was around 25-28 on a turkey as he danced ontop my other bird
I missed a doe last Oct at 15-17
I too am comfy at 15 = it is the "range" I have in basement. Shoot everyday 1-15 times.

I practice to 25 yds. My longest shot on a deer was 20 yds, one at 15 yds, and the rest were 10 yds or less. I would like to be shooting out to 30 yds in practice but in reality I would never shoot at a deer that far out. Besides it's more to see how close you can get, that's what makes it exciting!
