new to bows and just getting started. any recommendations on stabilizers and sights, etc. this would be greatly appreciated!
I have a z7x and absolutely love it. My best advice is to figure out what you want and then go find it. For example: Your sight. Do you want 3 pins, 4 pins, 5 pins....? How big of pins do you want? Do you want them to scale (20 yard pin is .010, 30 yard pin is .019, 40 yard pin is .029...)? What finish do you want on your sight (lost camo, black, other)? Your stabilizer: Are you going to be hunting? This a target only bow? As for what I chose: I wanted a sight with 4 pins, all pins .010, I wanted a light that moutned verticle and lighted the fibers only, had to be built tough, and lastly, it had to be lost camo... The two that really stuck out to me were the Extreme RT900 and the G5 Rock sight. I ended up with the rock sight and I'd buy it again, it's a great sight. Stabilizer: I didn't have much knowledge of these. However, I went the route of dampening rather than stabilizing. That said, with this bow I have no problems shooting out to 60 yards accurately. So, at first i had the axion 4 inch. I found it to be rather heavy and went down to the 2 inch. Essentially all that is doing is adding a slight bit of dampening (which some people think is overkill, and I'm not saying they're incorrect on that) and a little added weight.
when i bought mine the shop let me try out different sights and setups until i found the one i liked. that would be my suggestion to go to your local bow shop because what setup one person uses might not be the one for you.
I have the 4 pin apex micro adjust all green pin sight on my z7x. I prefer all green bc it ALOT more visiable under the canopy in the woods. As far as a stabilizer, I just put a 6" axion on my setup and really like it.
If you want just a single pin adjustable I have an HHA on mine and love it I set it at 25 and can shoot 0-30 :D Sweet set up Zach !
Just curious but wouldn't you actually want the smaller pins on the longest yardage? You know since the target will look smaller the farther out it is from you?
I believe that his post was backwards. You definitely want your larger .029 pins for closer distances and and the rest of your pins to decrease in size the further you go. In reponse to the original post - I still think you're hard pressed to find a better multi-pin sight than the Axcel Armortech line. They're light weight, rugged and feature both a tool-less micro adjust and fully armored fibers to protect them from breaking. Going on 3 seasons with mine and I absolutely love it. When it comes to stabilizers, anymore they're pretty much just there for vibration dampening and looks. Unless you're shooting something that's 12" or longer with some serious weight on the end, it's not doing much to "stabilize" your shot. I've been shooting the Apache stabilizer from NAP and have been very pleased with it. Light weight, good vibration dampening (even in the cold) and it looks killer too.
Black gold rush sight .019 pins bright as hell even in low light and they have this plastic cover over the fiber optics that tints its self in bright light so they are not to bright. average cost for the 4 pin is about $100. Nap apache stableizer is great. but buy the 8" then you can always take the extension off if you don't want it that long. Waht ever yuo do be careful not to twist the 3 rods that hold the dampners while tightening it to your bow. You could be right around $165 for both

Its really going to be your choice but here is what I chose for my Z 7x. I love the NAP Apache 8" because you can take out the carbon fiber looking adapter to take it down to 5" (double duty) plus its sexy looking I chose the Viper sight and love it so far!
I have an Axion 6", a KTech - Tech7 and Tech5. KTech works best for me. I have them on my Z7 and Z7 Xtreme Tactical. I also have a B-Stinger, a couple of Doinkers, an old NAP and some Simms S-coils in the bottom of my archery box. I like the B-Stinger but found it a little cumbersome in a blind. It probably hold the best though.
I have my Z7 set up as follows and it works extremely well for me! Doinker stabilizer (just the rubber and end weight), Trophy Taker Pronghorn rest, and Sword Twilight Hunter sight. I found that the shorter stabilizer works more effectively than a longer one (at least for myself and a few close friends). If you can try a few at you local dealer (if they permit you) and see which feels the best.
I shoot either a K-tech 7 or a B-stinger depending on where I am at. The B-stinger has a more solid hold, but it is heavy for spot and stalk hunting. Spott Hogg Hunter Hogg It with custom .19 fibers- old school before the wraps. Like it better than the wrap with the tubing down the side.
Thanks for the help, just wanted to see what others were shooting on the same bow & for those that recommended switching bows, I went to my local shop and shot plenty of bows and this was the one that felt the best to me overall.
i cant give advice for a stabalizer as i have never shot with one but i have the five pin apex all green bone colecter sights and my tactical and i love them they where the scond set i have bought this year i thought i would like spot hogs because of the talk i have heard about them but i prefer the apex.
