I shoot a bowtech realm ss but am very agnostic to brands. I have really liked all the reviews and looks and everything on the lift. I am also aware that Matthews sponsors a lot of the people on YouTube so it skews reviews. I haven’t had time to get to a shop to shoot one largely because we don’t have a shop near us. My buddy bought one in 80lb limbs which is what I would love to get. After about 700 arrows, he had 3 cracks in his limbs. He contacted Matthews and they replaced the limbs. They also told him they hadn’t seen a rise in limb issues with the lift, however he has heard (which is anecdotal at best) that there have been a lot of issues with the lift limbs. I just wanted to see if anyone here had heard or experienced issues with the lift? I am pretty happy with my bow but really like the 80lb lift and before I go for it would like to see what y’all thought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also before someone asks why don’t you shoot your buddies, I am left handed he is not…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I see several threads on other sources mentioning the limb issue with a few common themes: 80#+ and with the mods. Perhaps talking to a local dealer/shop to confirm or wait for the dust to settle/Mathews to address, if you're dead set on the Lift.
I have seen quite a few threads about Lifts with limb issues. There are several threads on other archery forums and I have seen them in FB groups as well. It does seem to happen more to the ones with 75 to 80 lbs limbs. I think Podium archery (Josh Jones) just put out a video about it. Mathews hasn't really gone too public about there being an issue, but acknowledges there was a material issue with around 1% of the Lift's limbs. They say they have identified and corrected that issue. They have been replacing limbs as they get turned into them through dealers, Mathews does have great customer service and warranty. I personally would not be real concerned about still buying a Lift...but I'd be hesitant to buy one right before the season kicks off and have it be my only bow. I would rather pick one up when I have plenty of time to shoot it a bunch and ensure the one I had didn't end up being one of them with a limb issue. I shot a 70 lbs Lift back in the Spring. I really liked it, typical Mathews that was very quiet and dead in hand during the shot. The lighter weight is very noticeable. It does have a fairly aggressive draw cycle. It builds pretty early in the draw and it feels like you draw through the peak weight for quite a bit of the draw in comparison to their last few flagships. I believe the one I tested had 85% let off mods, it is said the let off can change how the draw cycle feels quite a bit. I liked it well enough that I told myself I'd pick one up in the next couple of years. I'm cheap, I'll wait until they start showing up used for $400-$500 less.
there are numerous 'reports' /threads over on Archery Talk about the limbs and the problems with them ... I wonder what will happen when guys start hunting in the very cold and the limbs start cracking then ... I dont think the worst has came yet ... https://www.archerytalk.com/threads...-lift-limbs-splintering-and-cracking.6268459/ https://www.archerytalk.com/threads/whats-going-to-happen-in-november.6269602/ https://www.archerytalk.com/threads/mathews-lift-29-5-cracked-limbs.6262586/
I’m not necessarily dead set on it just admiring/fomo from distance. Haha I wouldn’t buy or use before season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yea I’m not necessarily concerned about them not addressing the issue. Heck, my bowtech delaminated and they were awesome about it and have had no issues since the fix. Definitely not looking at getting one before season, but may after season. My buddy is stressing though bc we are about to go on our elk hunt sept 1 and his limbs get in today. considering the amount of force/pressure put on limbs, its a wonder any hold up ..... yea, waaaay back I had a limb crack on my old 2006 Allegiance (twice warrantee'd), put a set of Barnsdale limbs on and never looked back, still have and shoot the bow from time to time ... yea, Mathews will cover it, it sucks when it happens to you though .... no problems with either my BT SR350 or the Elite Ritual 33 with thousands of shots thru them ... knock on wood ... plus, I love the deadlock tuning system on the SR350, no more running back and forth to a press to twist or shim !!
So I have worked on a few of them including my own and haven’t seen any problems. What I have seen is that the limbs are much shorter than previous models, and they go further past parallel than previous models. And when pressing in a Last Chance press which seems to be the standard in most shops, if you haven’t upgraded the press to the new fingers meant specifically for these bows you have to be exceptionally careful in adjusting the standard fingers so that they don’t apply pressure further down the limb than the pillow block assembly. I could be wrong on this, but I have a strong suspicion if there is an issue with these limbs it’s very possibly due to improper pressing at the shops. There are definitely shops out there today that know what they are doing, but I have worked on probably thousands of bows over the last 20 years and at least half of them when I get them have things that just aren’t done right. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if a lot of shops are just pressing them as fast and easy as they can, and not carefully adjusting the fingers to accommodate the new limb design. And if that were happening, the splintering that you hear about is exactly where the problem would show up. Just my 2 cents…..
I wouldn’t take one into the back county until they resolve it. Seems like it was a material issue with some limbs. I guess my question would be when what batch’s and serial numbers so customers that have them can get new limbs installed.
in Fairness BT had limb issues over several years, and multiple models. Their response was …when it happens we will fix it. I think this being handled way differently.
Wasn't talking about the companies and their logical response I was making reference to the fan boys, the sticker boys.
Just saw this get posted. That is good customer service. Even those that buy one used will be covered for a limb issue.
I love mine and love the flexibility of it. I plan on going to the shop this weekend anyway we will see what they say about it. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
