Mathews Triax Speeds Speeds

Discussion in 'Bowhunting Talk' started by mathews Halon 6, Aug 16, 2018.

  1. Everyone feel free to add your opinions and experiences. I have a Mathews Triax 70lb maxed out getting 72lb. 28" draw 85%. Only peep, Monkey tails, kisser, loop. With victory 350 cut 390 grain 304,304,306. This is paper tuned with a low right tear. String little off marks. I paper tuned it and had it re-tuned. I will live with that. I'm waiting to chrono it again. It should be getting at lease 310 fps now. This triax is smoking fast. 74.5% KE plenty to knock anything down that I will be hunting. I seen on archery talk.com. Someone said, a pro shop told him that monkey tails add a couple feet per second. Someone said, he was lied too. Someone else said, yeah they may work as a speed knock. Well when I was using the chrono I tried it 390 grain arrow, 304 with out them on, with them on 306 using a 390 grain My results shows the pro shop was telling the truth. What do you all know about this, or what do you all think?

Sounds correct I shoot a Mathews Cill R 70 lbs 28 inch draw 420 grain arrow at 288. IMHO you should be looking for 6 gr per pound for the sweet spot . I get good speed and great penetration. Too light and you give up hitting power to Heavey and you give up speed
