I'm in the market for a newer bow. Local pawn shop has both of these and for good prices. I've only ever had one Mathews and the rest were pse or bowtech. So I know nothing about hoyt and little about mathews. Give me some insight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had a 2003 Hoyt Magnatec XT2000. They were made the same year. Mine was a single cam and had the Cam and 1/2 system. the bow shot phenomenally. It had a smooth draw cycle and good back wall. For its time it was one of the better bows out there. Here are some links to the tune charts from a 2002 Hoyt Cybertech XT2000 http://www.hoyt.com/assets/tune_charts/CyberTecXT2000_New.pdf and for a 2003 Hoyt Cybertech http://www.hoyt.com/assets/tune_charts/CyberTecXT2000_2003_New.pdf . You will be able to tell if it is an '02 or '03 because Hoyt went from a single cam system in '02 to a double cam system in '03. I know my neighbor had a Switchback until last year and I shot it a few time and if I had to choose between the two I would have gone with the my Hoyt Magnatec. The Switchback just felt a little bulky in my hand compared to the Magnatec. Other than that difference they were pretty similar except for speed. I didn't have a chrono but I would estimate the Switchback to be a tad faster than the Hoyt.
I shot a switchback for a long time and i think it is still to this day one of the best bows that they have made. If i were you i would get the switchback but if you can i would shoot them and see what one fits you the best.
Ok well they are asking 279.00 for the hoyt and 400.00 for the Mathews both are in great shape. Not a scratch on them. So with that said now what seems the better deal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't know about the Hoyt, but the Switchback is a draw length specific cam which means you cant adjust the draw length without getting a new cam. Make sure its your draw length before buying. My vote goes to the Switchback. IMO its the best bow Mathews has ever made. In fact, I still have mine!
I have a switchback and it is one the smoothest I have ever shot. I've tried several Hoyt's but never cared for them mutch. I would go for the Mathews . The grip is wider than some bows but I have wide hands so it fits me nice. The switchbacks are still sought after as they are considered one of the best they have made.
That price seems a little high for the Mathews. I've seen z7's on Craigslist for right around 500 with some accessories on them. That said, the switchback has a reputation for being one of Mathews best bows.
Funny you should bring up the z7. I bought a z7 extreme brand new and well it was the worst bow I've ever had. In my opinion at least. By far my least favorite of a lot of bows. Kind of turned me away from Mathews. For a lil while anyway. But I bought the switchback today so I guess I'm back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You will be happy with the switchback . Im surprised you didn't like the z7 extreme ? Maybe it's the short ata . I have shot a z7 and I thought it was a nice shooting bow and would consider adding it to the bow line up.
