Don't blame you, I shot my last bow for 6 yrs and the one before that for 12 yrs. I'm thinking of getting a DXT for my wife though.
I've been accused of being a Mathews fanboy more than once, but the AM wins this one hands down. I've shot them both, and it wasn't even close. The Hoyt was lighter, better ballanced and had a smoother draw in my hands. Mathews dropped the ball with the Reezen IMO. I would comment on the Monster, but I couldn't even draw back the 70lb one that our shop had.
LOL, I could bearly draw the 70# myself. We played a joke on my gym rat hunting buddy. We bet Mr. Buff & Stuff a pack of rage broadheads he could'nt draw the 80# Monster. So with several on-lookers standing around he stated " I can draw any DAMN bow in here". Speaking to the unfamiliar on-lookers he also stated to them " Watch me put on a clinic for these guys" reffering to us. He grabbed the bow confidently and then proceeded to pull until he turned blue in the face. Sweat began to bead on his forehead and freshly shaven arms. With veins bulging from his temples he reluctantly gave up with a loss for words. Then the 56 yr old out of shape bow tech pick it up and pulled it with little emotion, and stated "thats how a real man does it"! It was possibly the greatest moment of my life besides my wedding and the birth of my child!
I personally would take the Alphamax over the Reezen. However, I would have a Mathews Drenalin over either one, just my personal preference. Go shoot both and make sure you leave with what you like and not what some fanboy told you was best.
I don't own a Reezen but a switchback. I have a good buddy (gri22ly) that has the alphamax and let me tell you that thing is junk. I even offered to give him some cash to buy a Matthews but I guess he can't swallow his pride. He swears by his alphamax. Just kidding Josh, LMAO!
Actually shot both last week. Then I shot the new mathews Z7. Like everyone has said shoot both but also take in consideration where and how you hunt (set up blinds or treestands) They have similar specs but I can't say enough for the two mathews. Manuverable and fast so. I have owned both mathews and hoyt, its like picking between a ford and a chevy, personal choice
You might wanna go check out the Hoyt Maxxis(I think) 31". I shot it this week at Lanco archery and it is amazing. Absolutely dead in your hand at the shot
