Worst economy ever huh? Try probably not even top 8th or 10th worst economy in America's history. Not really an Obama supporter just saying. Can't say that 35 people getting laid off from a bow company that is getting surpassed by almost every one of their competitors is Obama's fault.

There's a lot of companies offering many fine choices in bows... and most are cheaper. Sorry to hear of anyone losing their job though. I don't think blaming Obama is helpful... unless it is to escape the insurance issue... which doesn't seem likely.

It could have been a number of reasons. I've seen automation, Obama, and a few other things being listed. Don't really see how Obama fits in but what ever.

But did anyone ever consider maybe they are just way ahead in production and just flat out didn't need those people. No sense in paying people to work when there is no work to be done. Also since only negative stuff ever gets reported on, here is an article from dec of last year.

Does that sound like a company that is hurting?

While I know the selling point of a Mathews isn't speed, most bow companies get faster every year. I believe Mathews have actually gotten slower with the creed or at least they are the same speed. I know it's not everything but if they are already a smooth shooting now like everyone says then to me speed would be the next step.

I was wondering if anyone would look to see how many they've hired in recent years.

I know when we used to open a new restaurant (or move into a bigger location), we'd hire heavy and after a year when everything was running smooth, we could thin out the staff.

You guys are all as bad as the media, feeding your own feelings about a company into one released statistic.

Lmao I love the Obama comment. Spoken like a true ignorant red neck. Don't even know what causes crashes in economy do you? Or what brings them back? Just randomly blame the leader of the party you don't like. I agree with republicans aon many more issues then democrat, but to blame the economy on Obama is nothing short of being retarded. If I remember right the crash was 2008. So you should remove Obama from your sentence and replace it with bush. Obama is the best gun salesman in the history of USA. Ever since he has been in power he has not changed any laws, just made a couple threats. And since you guys have bought so many guns and ammo up here we can hardly get anything. As you guys are buying everything. Seems to me Obama is stimulating the economy.

Well it does stink people are getting laid off but large companies have to continually evaluate their business and do what's necessary to make it successful. Sometimes cuts need to happen to make a business successful. In 2003, I was one of 50 in a company with 8,000 employees laid off just at one location. Business could be slumping for them a little and as unfortunate as it may be, is it better to lay off 35 or have an entire business fail? I seriously doubt they are in the failing area but probably just trying to stream line and be more economical.

Obama has spiked gun sales in the U.S. that's for sure. But state laws have more say over what's legal than the U.S. government. I can't by anything close to an assault rifle in CA but go to Nevada; you can practically by a dang rocket launcher there. I'll preface this comment with I'm not a fan of Obama but..... the last 3 presidents have walked into some difficult times. Bush was leaving office and Obama taking over during the last large downfall. The economy is better than it was but not as good as it could be I believe.

My biggest complaint is government programs to help people that won't help themselves. We are the greatest country in the world for people who want to succeed if they have the drive to do it. Unfortunately, we are also the greatest country in helping the lazy stay lazy with government aid.

You live in a crappy state for guns but the government can and has banned guns on a nation wide level. Remember the assault weapon ban from 1994-2004 thanks to Billy Bob and others? Didnt matter what state you lived in... they were all California only worst (kinda). Obama was trying to do the same without the 10 year limit.

Im not trying to get a gun debate going on a bowhunting forum.. but saying Obama has not changed any laws and just made a couple threats is just stupid..

Ok my mistake. I thought they were all state level decisions and not federal.

No denying he is best gun salesman ever.

Honestly, I could believe the sales are going south. Every bow they have is a grand or more. Their bows used to be far above the rest in terms of quality, and now there are many that are equal. As a beginning bowhunter 2 years ago, I didn't even look at a Mathews because I couldn't see myself spending over 1500 bucks for a new bow all set up. I got my bowtech for half that price...
