So there is a guy local to me selling a Mathews Monster for $300. The rest is broken but i have an extra NAP Apache laying around i could use. I was going to see if he would go with me to a local bow shop to get instpected before buying but pending good condition, is this a good price? What is everyone's opinion of the Monster?

You have no room to be picky for $300 and your current bow is a #$*&% PSE! JK JK
Having something broken on it would make me nervous as to how it had been treated. I'd give him the option of going with me to the local shop or $150 straight out.

Any idea of the year? Earlier versions of the monsters had shallow cams and where prone to the string rolling off if you torqued the string at full draw. If you have the deep valley cams though the monster is a great bow once you have it tuned. It will flat out sling and arrow. Price is not bad but depends on what kind of shape its in. Good luck.

Also check for CAM lean. Lay an arrow flat on the cam and it should parallel the string. If not the only way to fix it is swap limbs around or get new limbs.

Don't diss my PSE. i love the way it shoots. I just saw this Mathews and i've been looking at getting another bow either to use as a main bow and have the PSE be a backup or vise versa.
I was planning on having him come with me to have it given a good look over. I can give it the eye test but i'd rather a pro really look it over to feel comfortable. It's the '09 model. he said that it's only been used a couple of times and that the rest got hit and broke one of the V posts. from the pictures it looked like a plastic version of a QAD rest.
