I am either questioning about 3 different bow scales or my Mathews DXT just will not pull 70 pounds.
My pro shop says it doesn't really matter, but I ordered a 70 lb. bow and I desire to get maximum efficiency out of it.

All 3 scales say it is between 65-67 lbs. And yes the limbs are "maxed out"
    Is it the string?
    The limbs?

    Please help

    Or maybe a new bow!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the sort of crap that really bugs me when a "pro shop" would actually say something like that. When you buy a 70 lb. bow it should at the very least reach 70 lbs, not 65-67 lbs. Did the dealer have to make some changes to reach your draw length? That can affect draw weight on some bow models, but since you ordered the bow it should have come pretty close to fit you.

If it were me I would keep talking to the dealer about it, and if he won't do anything I'd call Mathews yourself and letem know.

The string and cables on Mathews bows are notoriously crap. It's likely that your cable has elongated enough to drop the poundage. Check to make sure that the brace height and ATA are in spec. as well as the poundage. It's probably just a matter of a few more twists in the cable to get it where it should be. Your "pro" shop should have known this as it's not something that's limited just to Mathews bows or the DXT. Another thing to think about is replacing the string and cable all together with something that's going to be more reliable in the future like a Vapor Trail or BuckNasty or Winner's Choice.

Hey, I had the same problem on my Bowtech Alliegnce this last fall. I had been shooting it a ton and could see that my string was getting wore out since it was almost 3 years since i got it. So i went there and we put it on the scale and i thought i was shooting about 67 pound and i was shooting barely 60 with my limbs almost maxxed out. Both string on my bow had stretched.

KA hit the nail on the head I think. When I got WC strings put on my DXT, the shop guy checked my poundage, I had the limbs maxed out and it was hitting 65 lbs. But when I first got my bow it maxed at 72 lbs. I would bet that if you put a few twists in the cable you will be able to get your poundage back. Good luck.

Problem solved, different pro shop put a couple twists in the cables and I now max out at 71 pounds.
