Went and shot the Halon 6 and the new Hoyt cs today. I think the Hoyt had the better draw cycle of the two but the Halon held really solid at full draw. Not just the backwall, but a comfortable hold in general similar to the Elites. The grip was better than the other bows I've shot from Mathews as well.
Shot the Halon 6, the new no cam, last years no cam, and the elite impulse 31. My favorite would probably be last years no cam. The draw cycle was awesome and it held great. I did like the halon a good bit but might like the 7 better I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can't wait to shoot the new Halon, I'm planning on getting the Halon 5, but I want to shoot the Halon 6 also. Justin I wanted to ask you about the grip, myself I love the walnut grips, but this new flat back grip has me curious and I noticed you said you loved the new grip.. Which has me even more curious! Also how do you like the new lost camo xd pattern? I can't get a really good feel for it online and I know when you see them in person it's a whole different deal.
I really liked the grip. It say in my hand very well. The new camo looks good I guess, but I'm more into all black bows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I went to the Archery Shop and shot the Mathews Halon 6 today. Very, Very Impressed with it! Very Smooth Draw, Solid Backwall and No Vibration. The weight of the bow is not noticeable to me. I have a Mathews Z7 Magnum that weighs over 5 lbs once fully equipped. Yes if you are use to a bow the weighs 3.5 lbs, you may notice it, but I didn't. The bow I am shooting in this pic is set at 29 in and 72.5 lbs. It consistently shot 286 fps through the chrono with a Whisker Biscuit and 294 fps with a QAD HDX. Arrow weight is 455 gr. I have no doubt the Halon 5 would top 300 fps with the same setup. This bow is easy to draw and is not jumpy at all. As stiff as the limbs are, you never have to worry about cam lean. I think Mathews has a Winner on their hands! I absolutely love the Grip on this bow. Those that know me know that I have never owned and I have never liked shooting Dual Cam Bows. I have been waiting for a Dual cam bow that not only looked Bad A, but I loved the way it feels and shoots. I ordered a Halon 6 in All Black with Maroon string and serving! Can't wait to get my hands on it! If you haven't, go shoot the Mathews Halon when you have a chance. I think you will be very impressed!
I shot the halon 6 tonight aswell, I will be picking one of them up soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
For the folks that have shot the halon....did your shops say when they'll be getting shipments in for purchase? I'm assuming the ones being shot right now are demos with the option to pre-order?
I didn't ask. But the one they had in was bought by the next guy that shot it. Now they don't have one in the store at all.
I went in today and put money down on mine today. I got the halon 5 with 85 percent mods in the new lost camo pattern. I went in and shot the halon 5 and 6 they didn't have a 7 for demo. They even have a packet deal right now for black Friday on the halon they have 14 to sell right now I'll post the package deal pic for you guys.
It's a sweet package they have 4 ready to go already they come with nice skb cases and your choice of a dozen arrows cut to length and 10 range passes to shoot all day.
