If You buy a permit sure, I believe you can. Just bring your current state permit up with you and go to ****s to get the NY permit.

N.or S fork? I hunt Southold now and then. To answer your original question, I prefer to, and mainly focus on, hunting from right now until Nov.20th or so. I love it when guys hunt hard the first couple weeks and burn out right before it get good! The older I get the less I hunt in Dec. I will pick my spots if I notice deer movement, but won't just go sit randomly.

Both forks are loaded...Some of the biggest monsters I have seen are in Montauk, most times in someones back yard. I don't bother with the DEC lands either. I may head back out over the weekend when the temps dip.

Last I checked, I don't have anything to prove to anyone. Listen, I'll put you on some deer when I make it out to Sota next month. No charge, its on me.

Montauk is a sportsman's paradise, really most of the east end is. Can't convince the wife we should move out there though. :(

He is a newb (and a funny lil one at that) He is a good sport allowing himself to be the site's fool and laughing stock. Thats why I advocate for keeping him. He makes me laugh.

Couple that with the fact he clearly has a great deal to learn about hunting and I think that we should be able to bring him along pretty fast. If he pays close attention, he should be getting a doe or a small spike in no time.

Nothing could go wrong. We needed a villiage idiot to beat like a rented mule and masterhunter volunteered.

It should be fun dropping him on his head until he gets a clue.
