Very nice buck but I don't know about him being 200. I have to agree with other people by going with 170 to 180" deer, either way a buck of a lifetime there.
I always use ears as 6". I don't know of any deer I have seen that have 3.5" ears. The eyes have roughly a 3" circumference so you can bass mass on that. With enough good pictures I can get within 2 to 6 inches on most bucks. But that's a big gap.
Top to bottom the widest part is usually about 3 1/2". I find this easier to field judge than the length.
I've never heard of using a deer's ear width (3.5") as a measuring guide. I always use the 6" ear length as well.
If I remember correctly I picked it up from some software I used to measure antlers from trail cam pics.
Just so y'all know, that buck was killed on my lease by another lease member. The buck was 7.5 and he quickly scored it at 179, but this is not exact because he just rounded the numbers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm surprised the score is that low looking at him on the ground. He's a beast, congrats to the hunter.
Hhheellll of a deer right there! Congrats to him! I cringed at first on shot placement, seen the exit before the entry in the pic before. Was he on the ground?
He was in a tree stand and he didn't have much time so he took a quartering away shot, apparently it was a double lung and the deer didn't go far at all
