So I go out to a new property(for me) with a guy whose hunted it over the years...he's never shot a deer...I go through my scent control deal spray down and all that...we are hunting from the ground (going to hang a stand this weekend) I'm about 60 yards to his NW..we set up about 25 yards off a rub line...before we go out he's smoking a butt...I said it wasn't a good Idea...and he shoots a deer! lol I couldn't be happier for the guy! The first one is always the biggest deal...not that others aren't but you all know how that first one feels/felt! Its a good thing I was there to help him drag him out and gut him because he'd never done it before!

Just got outta work a little early. Not sure if I'll be going out tonight. My rain gear sucks! I meant to pick up a new set, something more quiet and less hot! Anyone going out tonight?

Rain off and on here but still going to go out. Hunting my food plot for the first time tonight. The plot didn't do as good as I wanted but it Is attracting deer. Another thing is there are so many acorns in the woods the food plot isn't interesting to them yet. I'm going to bring a bobcat in there next year and bring in fresh loam I think the soil had a lot to do with the crappy growth even tho I limed and fertilized. I'll take some pics from the stand to show you what I mean. Any way heading in around 4 and my buddies kid wants to come sit with me I said he is welcome too if he can stay quiet. It will be his first time hunting and he's 11 ill see if I can make a bow hunter out of him!

Sat in the pouring rain last night on the edge of a thicket. First time hunting this spot this year wanted to do some scouting but ran out of time only had a hour before dark so jumped in the stand for the last hour. Nothing but squirels and birds.

Just got in stand at 3:30 a little breezy not bad but 70 degrees. Ya it's warm glad I bought mild weather camo breathes awesome not sweating at all. Hingham High has got a football game going in I can hear the whole thing on the loud speaker kinda cool.

Yup that's what I figured. They are definitely per rutting now seeing a lot more scrapes and rubs.

I haunted from 6-9:30 this morning saw seven squirrels and a chipmunk. I heard a deer bawling in the woods I thought someone stuck it but no one was around.
I hunted from 3:00 to dark and only thing I saw was a red squirrel and a chipmunk.
Good to be out in the stand anyway.

My buddy saw 2 does in the am sit I saw nothing but a fresh scrape walking in then jumped the buck that did it 10 yards later didn't see him just heard him. Knew he had to be close not one leaf in the scrape with leaves falling everywhere. Just got in for the afternoon sit a little too windy for July liking but good to be here. Haven't sat in this stand since last Tuesday. And finally had 3 bucks on my food plot can a button, a small 8 and a nice 8. It's about time
