Yay, another mediocre football program. I thought we were full? I guess its a decent pickup for basketball.
for a football program that has been so so for many a year they seem to produce some very good NFL players.....over a dozen of quality players that have come out of MD the last several yrs.....to be honest I think they will be better then Purdue, Minn, Indiana, etc....so time will tell...also gets the PSU vs MD game back on the map...dispute PSU winning that game every yr !!!!!!
I think they could be huge. Both programs are in a very talent rich area, perhaps changing conferences and all of the extra money they will receive from the B1G will help them upgrade their facilities and start keeping their talent at home rather than the local recruits leaving the state. It should be more interesting than playing the bottom programs in the conference like Prudue, Indiana, Minnesota etc... At least Maryland and Rutgers have good seasons off and on unlike the bottom tier of the B1G.
You guys talk like other programs in the league are worthy of note. LOL Well, Gary Williams is gone...basketball is not as good as it once was. Fridge is gone... football is not as good as it was. Watch out for the lacrosse. LOL They're usually pretty decent at that. They did it for the 23(That's right... 23) million in revenew each school got last year Germ... not 3 million. I think FSU would be a good fit except for travel... but Tech???? not sure. What is hard to reason.... Maryland has to buy their way out off the ACC. Cost 50 million buyout. They're getting 15 million plus other monies as is in the ACC. It seems like a hell of a leap to me. No more Maryland/Duke/ UNC/VA etc. It just isn't right. Now they can go play the boilermakers. LOL Come on already. This "Jump Ship" stuff is getting insane.
AP: 12/20/2012 Breaking news related to B1G conference expansion. Today the B1G announced it has named a successor to Jim Delaney. Beginning in 2014, Newt Gingrich will be the new commissioner. A noted visionary, Gingrich has ambitious plans. "I will immediately begin talks with UDSM (University of the Dark Side of the Moon) to become the first conference to expand to the lunar surface". Responding immediately, the SEC has indicated plans to schedule games against Central Crater Community College and Sea of Tranquility Technical Institute. Said Auburn coach Gene Chizik, "War Eagle has landed".
On a day when your conference announces Maryland and Rutgers you still take a dig at the SEC...awesome, if you ever move down this way you and I will definitely be instant football buddies. Throw jabs no matter what, that's what we do as we'll.
Kind of the new era of college sports, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.... Doesn't make a lot of sense to have big over stretched conferences IMHO, and ruins "regional" rivalries.
I can't wait for tOSU to play Maryland and Rutgers. Let's be real here. The only conference teams we play that generate any interest is Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State and Wisconsin. The rest of the games are just meh...
We are, but I think we could really rile some feathers round here. Think of the damage you could do in SEC country...my fellow brethren, the Bama fans, we don't even recognize the 10 years probation, the uga crowd, had herschel for three years and been irrelevant ever since, the barn, cam, came and went but you'd think he won five while he was there, I could go on and on, and on and on and on...better yet, you better stay up there, we would get shot. On a serious note, this map is crazy man. Knew it was getting spread out, but this puts it in perspective.
From a money perspective it's great. From a fan perspective it's sucks donkey balls. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
