Hey all. Just getting into bowhunting. Never been before, and I've only been rifle(shotgun) hunting once. Any recommendations on the best way to start? Still don't have a bow, but besides land, that's all I need. Any advice is appreciated.
Welcome to the site! Your best bet is to go to a (or a few) archery proshop(s) in your area. Try to shoot as many different bows as you can. Some will feel better and shoot better for you than others. You don't need to buy the flagship bows from any of the companies. One thing I would steer clear of are the "Ready to Shoot" (RTS) bows you'll find at the big box stores like Cabelas or Gander. Most of the accessories on those bows are crap and you'll be replacing them in a year anyway. Good luck and welcome to the sport
Welcome to the forums, the best way to tell what bow is right for you is to go to your local dealer and shoot as many bows as you can till you find the right one. After shooting alot of different bows you'll be able to pick the one that best fits you
Not many that my schedule allows and are in my area unfortunately. But there is one that I'm going to try to go to today. As far as the RTS packages, I'm pretty restricted on budget, so if that means I have to shoot with a **** sight for a season, so be it. But I apprciate the advice. Hell, maybe I can give the shop guy my big doe eyes and see if he'll upgrade me hahaha.
I actually just picked up a Stinger 3G. Bass Pro was having a sale (No, the bow itself wasn't on sale, but I use that line to justify spending most of my paycheck like that lol), and the staff was insanely knowledgeable. The guy that helped me is an archery coach and a hunting guide, so I feel like I got some pretty damn good free lessons. I can't wait to get my first deer!
