Thanks alot!! im thinking i might just hire an outfitter to make life more simple on myself! anyone have any recommendations?
I'm not an outfitter but if you want to pay someone to put you on deer, I'm your man. I'm kidding of course, unless you really want to then I'm being serious. Check out mason-Dixon outfitters in pylesville, they are mainly pheasant /quail but I believe they have some deer hunts as well.
ahahha offer a military discount? id like to spend 3-4 days down there of course i will be filming. and so on i just cant bare the thought of missing a complete hunting season im going crazy as it is watching everyones season unfold. do you hunt public land?
No I don't. I hunt a friends farm. If you download the MD guide to hunting and trapping there is a map of all public lands in md and what requirements each one has. Most of the public land up my way is packed from early season thru Dec. But I'm not sure about January. My guess is that you'd have the woods almost to yourself. Check out rocks state park and Susquehanna state park they are both archery only.
cool thanks ill look into that as well ive got a few months to plan unfortunaly all my scouting will be reading articles of past maryland hunts ill be in the woods blind but atleast ill be in the woods!
Heard of it, never been there. I'm at Seneca Creek State Park. They have four or five sections, most of them are bow only. Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
The free permits are just ways to make you legally agree that you've read the rules and regulations of the hunting area. Some areas have slightly different rules - most pertaining to time of use and areas that can / cannot be hunted. If you choose an area and it requires the free permit - you just get it and sign it to say you agree to the regulations. Also, some wildlife management areas have a limited number of hunters allowed and require daily reservations. When you call in to make a reservation, you use your permit number.
Nope. Most state parks don't. Its only wildlife management areas and some watersheds (Liberty, Prettyboy, Loch Raven). I hunt Prettyboy watershed and the land is actually owned by dept of public works for Baltimore City. (Since they own the lake and it's used for city water). City owns the lake and MD DNR manages hunting on it.
