Bought a Martin Cougar Compound bow a couple years ago brand new, fully setup for just under $280. I don't see many people using Martin Compound's, but I have had a lot of success with my bow, and am quite confident with it. Just thought I would put that out there for anybody who can't afford a PSE or Mathews(both of which are great bows).

I acquired a Martin Melee in a trade and have yet to shoot it but spec wise and "cool factor" wise it does the trick.

I shoot a Martin fire hawk and absolutely love it. IMO Martin is one of the best brands to go with for the "budget" bow hunter. Quality bows for a low price.
