So is the theory that he bought the dead head, had a replica made, and then mounted the replica? I would assume that would be fairly simple for him to prove/disprove if he wanted to protect his name...
It would be, show he could publish a picture of him with the dead buck and his new trophy buck and all this would go away, but he hasn't yet which makes me believe he is guilty
The theory is he purchased the dead head, colored the rack, then stuck it on a dead buck after cutting the skull plate out and took pictures with it.
I wonder if he reported the deer as the dead-head, or as it really was? Just speculation, but if I know the Il Dnr, they're gonna be talking to him about this deer and all the deer he killed in the past
I think the big question is, did he tag the buck? If he did not tag it, I am not thinking he broke any laws. The deer classic stuff is ballsy, but I actually won this year the exact category he did in 2010 and looked over my entry stuff today and it doesn't look like he would have any issues there either. It looks to me like he is just facing ethical issues.
You lost me? There's a dead deer in the photo, in one photo it has a tag on the antlers. Doesn't look like an archery tag either, I guess it could be a landowner tag? But either way, the deer had to be tagged and reported.
I am guessing he did it for notoriety and did not tag the buck. He could of found a roadkill or legally tagged a doe or smaller buck and then added his bought rack. He might not have tagged the buck. It was not entered in the books and I don't remember showing a tag or them taking my tag information for the contest.
You mean did not tag it as "the dead head buck". That's what I was questioning. He may have called it in as "the buck", who knows. The dead deer for sure ain't no doe, smaller buck maybe. Like I said, just possibilities, we shall see I guess.
Exactly. If he tagged it as the "dead head buck" he would be in legal trouble. If he tagged a small buck and then "dressed" it up for pictures, I don't think he broke any laws.
Looking again, it may be an archery tag. I see the tie wrap on one photo. But, if he wasn't going to call it in as the dead-head buck, why would he even put the tag on the antler? Obviously that tag belongs to a different deer. Wouldn't just puting it on this rack be a violation?
I would think it would be fairly simple to determine if there was some type of stain used on the rack.
Ever think that the entire story could be the other way around??? The Facebook picture being the fake one?? Just a thought... I made that picture in about 15 minutes.... yes it's a fake
Look closely at the picture of the two dead heads... They both have been photo shopped in front of those cupboards. The guy did a good job, but far from a perfect job...
That pic was put up in a totally unrelated topic discussing scores on bucks and somebody else made the connection to the guys buck. Can look at what ihunt posted earlier to see it play out. So the its kinda needless for someone to photoshop this pic.
I think it was photo shopped on facebook just to show a side by side comparison on a separate discussion.
This is a shame if it's true. I was actually inspired by Marc Anthony to hunt in a ghillie from the ground. Glad I didn't buy his suit. Like they say, one "oh sh!t" cancels out a thousand atta boys. Makes a fella wonder about all his other bucks. Heck, could've been killed under the light for all we know.
So here's an update I figured I'd post. I just ran across this article a few moments ago. Antler Collector: Brow Tine Triggered Marc Anthony Deer Controversy - Deer & Deer Hunting | Whitetail Deer Hunting Tips
