Our club has about 3000 acres under lease and up until now we used satellite maps with manually sketched lines superimposed to represent trails, stand sites and feeder/mineral locations. Now we want to map the lease with better accuracy.

Is there a GPS based system out there that will allow you to carry a device on your person or 4-wheeler that will accurately record your path, record points of interest like stand sites and then display that information on a satellite image that can be saved and printed?

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I don't know specifics, but I guarantee there's an app or gps unit that can do exactly that. As far as trails, you could track your movement, just don't know how to transfer to the computer.

If you have that big of club, you should look into getting a Hunterra wall map. Wouldn't be that much if you got all the members to split the cost.

Trimble juno with ArcMap software is what I use for mapping. The software takes some time to master, but it is hard to beat.

Trimble Navigator app is pretty user friendly. I have been using it for a few years and really like it.

Appreciate the help. Biggest issue is being able to save and print the final product so all the members can have a "paper" map.

We use handheld GPS with a card, works great for mapping perimeter of fires even calculated the acres inside the perimeter. Magellan are the units we use.
