I guess he thinks he's ready to go. "In my mind, I think I am,"*Manziel told reporters. "I feel like I'm playing, for the most part, at a really high level of football. I'm putting the ball where I want it to be and I'm throwing it with a lot of velocity." That's from a article on CBS sports, I can't really say because I didn't watch many games he played in this year. Thoughts
I thought I heard tonight that he said he wasn't sure yet. Wanted some time to think about his options and talk about what the best move would be. I personally think he is gone. Can't say I'd blame him. Not much to come back to college football for other than raising his draft stock. I think he's projected the 3rd QB taken in the draft if he went out this year.
His college numbers are great, but I don't see him having a huge impact as an NFL quarterback. This is just my opinion but great college players don't always equate to great professional athletes. My wife graduated from A&M as did her father, so I've been following A&M football and seen quite a few of Johnny football's performances. I think he's too small, too inconsistent, and doesn't make fast enough decisions to be an NFL quarterback. Also, at the collegiate level he's able to move the chains through scrambling against weaker defenses, I don't see that working out very well for him in the NFL.
Yea that what they were just talking about that he wasn't sure, and he is projected to be 3rd qb pick.
Here is another thought about his scrambling. He has been successful scrambling against big time fast, SEC defenders. We are not talking about lightweights, we are talking speedsters.
That's very true. The SEC is about as close as you can get to simulating the next level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk www.skyangler.com
I don't know, I don't watch much football anymore and haven't watched many of his games but he seems pretty good compared to many of the NFL quarterbacks. I don't know that he can play at the level of the top NFL QB's but I think he can deffinitely play at a higher level than the mid tier guys. I think it would be wise for him to take the shot now while he's popular rather than to take a chance after another season in college ball and not getting paid. If the NFL doesn't work out, he can always go back to school except next time he'll be rich. If he goes to a good team that has a good line and a decent coach/s, he could do very well...I think. A QB doesn't have to be a giant to be good or even great...I think too much is made of a QB's size.
Very true, he is quite a scrambler. He's done it successfully against some SEC defenses. Will he be able to consistently and productively do that in the NFL? I guess we'll have to wait and see. My opinion is that he won't.
Yes, Johny is a little undersized compared to most NFL qb's but I think he has the tools to be a good player in the NFL. His ability to escape defenders and throw on the run are great assets. I believe he also made great strides this season in how well he has thrown from the pocket.
If Johnny Football makes it to a starting job in the NFL in '14 I'll be surprised. I think he's got potential but, I don't think he's ready to take the pounding of an NFL game yet. If he's drafted high, & goes to a QB starved team.... he might start. He'll make some highlight reels for sure but, he'll also be on the business end of some monster defenders who will welcome him to the league in kind..... He's exciting to watch but, I think he'll be a flash in the pan.
Seems to me, that historically, rookie starting QB's generally do not far well in the NFL. There are exceptions of course but taking a rookie an throwing him to the wolves would not be my first choice were I a coach.
A number of qb's have done well their rookie season in recent years though. Wilson, Luck, RG III, Dalton, Newton
His best asset is Russell Wilson doing so well, I can see him going to Philly, though I doubt he lasts that long before some loser grabs him; then he struggles with a poor fit.
i think he will be another Tebow. He will land on a team, see some playing time, do some good, but it won't out way the bad. I hope he leaves college football. he is an arrogant hothead and he doesn't set a good example to all the kids out there who may look up to him.
You could be right that he won't be good in the NFL. But, Maziel throws a football much better than Tebow and is more elusive.
