I've never heard of any of this, he'll I thought Tiger and Elin possibly remarrying with a $350 mil prenup was the headline of the day. Never followed college ball.
I just read the entire thing on Deadspin. Teo is lying. He fabricated quite a story. He even talked about this on College Football Live and had SI, ESPN, NY Times, CBS This Morning, Los Angeles Times, NY Post, Fox Sports, etc. all reporting about it. He even said that he met her after a football game IN PERSON and said that they spent time together in Hawaii. Liar, liar, liar. Somehow I think Rancid Crabtree is involved in all this.
I've never heard of this. Is it possible he did met and fall for someone.. but she was completely misrepresenting herself? (after all, guys do it all the time. ) If that's the case, it's really quite sad.
UPDATED 6:32 p.m. ET: Subsequent to the initial posting, Te’o has released a statement addressing this situation as well. Here it is, in its entirety. “This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online. We maintained what I thought to be an authentic relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone, and I grew to care deeply about her. “To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone’s sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating. “It further pains me that the grief I felt and the sympathies expressed to me at the time of my grandmother’s death in September were in any way deepened by what I believed to be another significant loss in my life. “I am enormously grateful for the support of my family, friends and Notre Dame fans throughout this year. To think that I shared with them my happiness about my relationship and details that I thought to be true about her just makes me sick. I hope that people can understand how trying and confusing this whole experience has been. “In retrospect, I obviously should have been much more cautious. If anything good comes of this, I hope it is that others will be far more guarded when they engage with people online than I was. “Fortunately, I have many wonderful things in my life, and I’m looking forward to putting this painful experience behind me as I focus on preparing for the NFL Draft.”
Big Notre Dame fan. I couldn't believe this when I heard it. This story is funny, because the idiot got caught in his lie. If he really didn't realize something was fishy, then he really is an idiot.
I was a big time Teo fanboy this year, but when someone emailed me the story right before leaving work... I don't know what to believe in anymore. I'm gonna go watch Rudy with a bottle of Tully Dew and find myself.
I am a huge Vikings fan. We need a linebacker, we draft Irish heavy (Harrison Smith, Robert Blanton, Kyle Rudolphf, John Sullivan). Talent wise he is a top 15 pick, if he falls to Minny at 23 I think there is a good chance they take him.
