    Typical response.

Many people have made this shot successfully. I've seen this discussed many times over and to my surprise, more often than not, it SEEMS to be successful.

Why the hell do you seem to care so much. It obviously works great for many people, let them worry about the ethics of it.

I have no idea. But I was one for one last year. Pretty sure Dave was also.

I was in a stare down with my mule deer last year. She finally (after seemed like forever at full draw) put her head back down so I could shoot.

If I was the kid in the video I would have taken that shot 10 times out of 10. Could it's next move have been put it's head back down an keep on walking? Sure? Doesn't mean I'd give it the chance when a extremely lethal shot is already presented.

How condescending of you........if the conversation is beneath you just avoid it, no one will notice ;)

It's pure conjecture.............unless you are the elk whisperer.

We all know how deer see professor........it's just a figure of speech man.

You should love it........considering the tone of your entire post is disrespectful.........and no it's not 100% promise you will get a better shot. Sometimes you lose, you have to be a little more mature then a spoiled teenager and accept that. It's hunting, 99.9% of the time you lose........deal with it or stay home.

Not what I asked.......my buddy clipped his coat with his string last year and shot a deer in the neck dropping it almost instantly. Does that make it a good shot that we should recommend bow hunters take??

I can't answer what you asked. All I can answer is what I know happened from this shot last year.

In other words.........the truth. You know what happens when guys post wounded/lost threads. They get crucified. Even knowing that......there are enough guys online that have posted their heartache stories for me to know that means thousands more have suffered the same misery, elk and hunter alike.

No need to get argumentative Atlasman. I was just pointing out what I saw on the video, and knowing what I know from just being around animals in general and how they act and react to their environment. It seems to me you're the one who's being condescending by your last post. It was uncalled for, I didn't take any jabs at you. But you took to name calling. I don't know what you know and don't know, so I was simply relaying as much information as I could in a small time frame.

I simply stated "against my better judgment" because this isn't my first rodeo, and I usually don't have time to deal with people who just like to call names.

But I think it's the facts that I pointed out in the video that you don't like. Yours is a straw man argument. You say the kid panicked, the elk busted him, I simply state that there is nothing in the video that shows any of that..(I think you called that conjecture). I think that the video proves that I'm right. The elk didn't bust him, and he made a great shot.

But again, I'm not here to argue, I like this forum and have got a ton of great help and information from other members here.

I'm gonna watch Superman with my kids now.

I'm not going to make up precentages of how I think a certain shot went. I'll just answer from what I know last year 2 for 2.

I am guessing atlasman has never killed an elk and backcountry has killed several.

I know I don't kill what I don't shoot at 100% of the time ....those odds suck. And I always enjoyed elk steaks. The racks are nice too...

Yea........it's not like you started your whole post with a condescending insult or anything.

Oh my god.......if you mean elk whisperer and professor you win the all time award for thinnest skin on the internet. Backcountry called me an ******* and a ****** bag more then once but I haven't seen you or anyone else cry about that.

Just keep ignoring the piles of evidence to the contrary and keep repeating what you believe and eventually you will convince yourself you're right.

Oops.........you must have missed this part. ;)
