The odds are unfortunately good that we all have our fair share of moviegoing horror stories to vent about (which you're welcome to do in the comments section below). You go to a movie, and a stranger takes a phone call, sends texts, repeats every other line, translates every single line, attempts to add jokes to the experience, or simply proceeds with idle chatter. Sometimes, you shush to occasional effect. Sometimes, you get a manager and the jerk clams up. Sometimes, people threaten to come to blows out in the parking lot.

And sometimes, you mistake a popcorn-throwing, motor-mouthed misfit for a grown man and hit him hard enough to knock a tooth out and leave him with a bloody nose. According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, a 21-year-old attendee of an unknown 3D movie was fed up enough to do just that, only to not realize how young his adversary was... and that his mother was apparently sitting beside him. The man now faces felony charges.

Was the man wrong for lashing out physically? Yes. Was the mother wrong for not keeping the behavior of those children in check? In all likelihood. Could the kid have had a loose tooth already? It's possible. The point is, don't do any of it. Don't talk. Don't slap. Don't throw popcorn. You know what, just don't leave your house. It's easier that way.

This happen to me and my wife when we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean.

My wife has to use crutches for mobility and we normally sit in the front row middle seats for ease of leaving. In any case this guy and his girlfriend sat behind us one seat to her right. About 20 minutes into the movie the guy put his feet up on the back of the seat leaning toward her face. His girl friend said don't be rude. At this point I wasn't sure of what was going on until my Wife said something about his feet.

I looked up and ask the guy do you mind. He ignored me. I then said hey do you mind putting your feet down. The guy refuse to put his feet down. At this point I took off my jacket stood up and slapped his feet down. And I just glared at him in the worst sort of way. He kept his feet on the floor for the rest of the movie.

At the end of the movie we were leaving and I saw the guy enter the restroom. So I told my wife I'll be a minute and she thought I was going to start a fight..... eh'

Just as I entered the restroom he was bolstering about some Black Dude in front of him talking trash during the movie. I quickly told him I wasn't talking trash and you should be respectful of others during social events. He couldn't say a word but look at me like I was going to do something.

I did nothing more than to turn and leave. I know people can piss you off at the movies, some don't realize they are being rude some just don't care, but in case if you have to move to enjoy the movie I say why not. But if you can't do what you think is right.

several years ago I went to a movie with a girl I had just met. while we were watching the movie there was a group of younger people there being loud and throwing thing at eachother. I went and got the manager who happened to be a friend of mine. He approached them and told them to stop or they would have to leave. This was a 21 and over theater.
So after that they decided to turn thier attention right to me and my date. After I warned them once I made it perfectly clear ther would not be a second warning. A few minutes later my date was soaked in beer. That is when all of my being civil takes a vacation. At the end I had a busted nose and a blackeye but the 2 guys that I went after did not weather the storm to well. they tried to press charges and subsiquently were arrested themselves while I left for home. There are way to many people that wont stand up for themselves and others these days and I really think it's why the younger generation is really running a muck of things.
i don't really feel that violence is the answer but there are times that certain people wont understand anything else.

I can't remember ever having a bad experience at the movies.

I have a coworker who goes to the movies and comes back complaining every time about cell phone users texting. I asked him where he sits and he sits in the very back row. I asked if he ever considered moving up some so he wouldn't have to see people on their cell phones and of course I got the "I paid as much money as every one else and can sit anywhere I want!" speech. I suggested maybe he has "control issues". At either rate, we all know we shouldn't be on the cell phone in the movie but we also know people are going to do it anyway.

Again, at either rate sticking your feet in someone's face is really over the top and I am wondering... what does your color have to do with being disrespected in that way? I am sorry you had that experience and am glad you had the chance to confront the trash talker.

I have never had any issues at the movie theater either. But, its costs $3 to see a movie here. That pretty well eliminates all the riff-raff. ;)

We went to "The Avengers" last week and it was $10.00 per ticket. I nearly had a coronary!

If I paid that, I would take the seat home.

And the 3D is even more. Sorry, but you don't even get to keep the glasses.

It is a Cinema 12 and a lot of the kids leave one movie when it is over and just go into another one that is just starting. Maybe that is why it costs so much.

Back in the day you saw two movies for the price of one. Sadly corporate greed caused this fiasco. One other thought if that had been my young child smacked or punch like that it would have been a two for one sale.

Still I would expect a child of mine to conduct themselves appropriately because their behavior is reflection of their home environment.

I see parents dropping young teenagers and even younger children off at the theatre. They just hang around outside until they get picked up. I don't know why the management doesn't stop it but the kids really don't cause any major problems that I am aware of; at least at ours anyway.

i deff have to pick and choose my theaters and the times i go see flicks. the price doesnt bother me much cause i figure its nothing compared to a night of going out drinking with friends. prob my fav thing to do and enjoy some popcorn and an ice cold soda!!!!!!! as far as folks talking and carrying on im lucky enough that it has never come down to anything physical. guess if that did happen i'd wait for the first punch cause both parties would prob end up in some kind of trouble, i'd at least have that in my favor
