I recently harvested a 7 pt. buck from my lease in jo daviess Illinois. I wanted a skull mount, so I handed it over to the taxidermist, and when I got it back, I noticed a strange chip, almost like you find sheds from chewing. Its really not big, but I can definitely notice it. The only reason I even care the slightest bit, is because there was a special story behind it. If it was already there thats fine, but I kinda want to know if its natural or not. If not what do you think could have done it. The first 2 pictures is right after I killed it, and the last 2 are after I got it back. What made the chip... The deer or the taxidermist?
Looks to me to be normal shrinkage after drying. Just my opinion though... not being a taxidermist and all.
