I'd definitely not recommend taking a bear with bare hands. The one I took that way was so bludgeoned and bruised the meat was almost worthless. Poor bastard looked like he'd been hit by a train. It didn't help that he turned tail and tried to run and I had to run him down and tackle him to finish him off. The only thing that saved the hide was when I tackled him I had a good grip on his head and muzzle and was able to snap his neck fairly quickly.
That will never happen. I have hunted Alberta four times with great success. The hunting is too good. If I am going to hunt a bear in Alberta, I am fine with the bow and not a spear.
If I dont like what i`m watching, I change the channel!! Get it. Everybody has an agenda when they dont participate in something or dont understand something. I personnaly dont care about things that dont intrest me, I just change the channel, but thats just me. Leave the guy alone!!!!
Not sure how you got a pic of me on this hunt but I guess it's okay if you use it. I was lucky I got my tooths fixed. Also not the most flattering shot but I can at least confirm that the bear did in fact squeal like a pig.
This method has been used thousands of years ago. What's the difference now? **** I've watch this type hunting on natgeo Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
After all the hell raised last year over the first bear hunt in 20 years in florida I'm not surprised by the social media blowback on a spear hunt. Its a shame one can't enjoy their sport as they choose.
My thoughts precisely concerning self-promotion. So many folks are filming and posting their hunts online that there is some really negative images available for the anti-hunting segment to capitalize upon. Whether it was prudent to kill a bear with a spear is not my business, but attaching a camera to the spear and then posting it online was foolish from my perspective. Recently a FB friend posted a clip of a Muslim lady being hung for some crime against her religion and that was disturbing to me to see.....enough so that I shut it off. For the folks who equate animal life with human life, I imagine they feel the same about that bear. I have killed a few bears with arrows, but no one was there but me and the bear.
Well it appears that UA voided their partnership with the Bowmars after getting pressure from the anti crowd. And some of their social media accounts went private. Something along the lines of, "If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen" seems appropriate right now.
As always there is more to the story than meets the eye. The drama over the bear was the final straw.
that's BS. All the UA sponsored hunters should stand up to that crap. One internet temper tantrum could end it for any/all of them. Stand together or fall one by one. to Covey...you ain't right, man.
They should, but they won't. And UA pretty much dominates every other sport, so I doubt they'd shed a tear if they lost the hunting market.
