If Russia ordered this it came right after Obama threatened more sanctions against Russia. Then we need to step in, I can't think of another reason to step in other then that.
It doesn't make sense why they would shoot a passenger plane out of the air, they have nothing to gain from it. If they missed the intended target and got that plane it's still retaliation.
That's the point, we don't know exactly what happened, which is why I said it depends on who did it. Any time Americans die, it's the responsibility of our government to investigate and help in any way possible to bring those responsible to justice. If a nation itself did this, why would we NOT do something? Are you insinuating we can just go shoot people from other countries whenever we want? If so, I would like to go to the border right now and fix the border problem. I'm not saying we have to declare war and put boots on the ground (although it wouldn't be out of the question depending on the situation), we can surely investigate and work with the other nations involved to bring those responsible to justice. I think innocent Americans who are dead deserve a little more than if we "just stay the hell out of it".

I'm leaning towards it was a mistake. I can just picture the guy that posted that running off like Bill Murray at the end of Caddy Shack. If it was the Russians that fired the shot we have to do something.
Well for starters I would expect the CIA Counterterrorism Center would help in the investigation and provide whatever resources are needed to the nation the separatists were in so they can find and bring them to justice.
And what take out that nation? no nation is stupid to purposely shoot down an airline with international passengers. Most like it were terrorists or the government accidentally thinking it was the enemy (no idea how that would happeb) but you don't just go in nowadays and take over that country.
Watch and wait IMO--- There is no reason for us to jump in this mess without concrete proof of what really happened. I'm not for letting these crazy bastards that did this go free either; but I can't see commiting further lives to this tradgety without a clear understanding of what happened. It's astounding that anyone at MSNBC could think that someone at the embassy in Kiev could see a missile shoot down an aircraft 400 miles away near Donetsk. That claim, in and of itself, should have disqualified the prankster from being put on air. A bunch of amateurs, not journalists.
One of the two governments shot it down (or supplied the weapon to shoot it down)... Logically it was an accident mistaken for the enemies cargo plane. Neither side will own up to it. And the last thing the US needs to do is step into another conflict
What we do know is that our State Dept and our DoD knew this was a shoot down and the manifest states there were multiple Americans on board, and hours later the HMFIC comes out to the podium of a fundraiser and is giving high fives, bro-hugs, and shout outs for 30 seconds before His Majesty makes a passing reference that a "tragedy may have occurred" and "Americans may have been on board" and he feels bad about that, then immediately begins making jokes about bad handwriting and saying Repubs suck for not giving him more money, What an abject and absolute disgrace. Pathetic empty suit. I don't care what side of the political spectrum you are on, he brings shame upon the office every day.
