Maybe there is no evidence. Maybe the plane landed somewhere and a ransom/hostage tape will be revealed...
As much as I want to believe that... It's not happening. If the plane landed, 1 of the 239 people on board would have gotten a text to a family member saying the plane had been hi-jacked, etc, etc.
This is what I was thinking. If they had the ability to turn around and change course that much, that wouldn't indicate something drastic happening like a bomb or engine failure.
Since they haven't found any wreckage, it becomes more plausible that the plane was 'stolen' (for lack of a better word). If so, I doubt that any of the passengers are still alive. If it was stolen... surely it is for seriously nefarious purposes... and if people can pull this off, it's very, very disturbing. If they can lose a jumbo jet.. will anybody notice an extra one flying around? Getting a missile to a population center is difficult.. a jet, not so much. It's far-fetched.. but we can't rule anything out at this point. Those poor families.
Even if this plane was hijacked/stolen... I'm not sure a few guys would have been able to pull it off. Unless they had weapons, which they didn't (because of security, etc), you would have to think some of the 237 passangers would have stepped up to stop them. It's just one huge, sad, confusing story.
A possibility is that the cabin was gassed. Weapons could have been taken from the checked baggage/cargo. There would need to be some insiders and *serious* planning and coordination to pull it off. Which is why it would be really disturbing if that's what happened. Because... if they can pull this off... what's the next action? I still believe it's not a likely scenario... but something to consider.
How else was North Korea supposed to start their own airline? Rodman has to get back-and-forth somehow!
But the transponder quit abruptly. They say that would be due to catastrophic failure or being turned off. Everybody dozing off and the plane just cruising along until it ran dry wouldn't turn the transponder off until it hit the ground. At least, that's what I've read, and as weird as this is.... I'm not sure we're getting the whole story anyhow. The numerous conspiracy theories popping up are a macabre amusement at best.
Meh, if the depressurization was electrical or catastrophic it could take out the transponder too. But to feed the rumors...two word--alien abduction.
My theory is there is a cover up. Exploded due to surface or air to air missile. Tracking steady at altitude and poof... GONE!!! I will admit I haven't followed the story today so I am unaware of any developments.
I blame global warming. Now even more "breaking news" coming from CNN... The story is changing daily now. Ridiculous.
