Guys, What are the major differences between a longbow and a recurve? Other than the shape of the bow, I think I got that part nailed down. I kinda got an invite from a pretty well known bowyer :d And if everything works out I would like to go down and see how its done trying to gather ideas on what type of a bow to get.
The recurved limbs help deliver energy more efficiently. This will make for faster shooting bows and much less hand shock. Hence the developmet of R/D longbows. If I've misstated this I'm sure someone will jump in to further explain.
I'm new to the Traditional bows , but i understood what you saying Rob . I've wanted to ask the same question , but Zach got first . Get down their Zach and have a go , you'll love it .
I need to so bad, but I might have to wait untill a little bit later in my semester. I am definately trying to get a schedule worked out and then hopefully I will be able to make it down there.
I have found that most of the modern R/D longbows are just as easy to shoot as recurves. As far as speed, most of the fastest bows right now are longbows(Adcock, Centaur, Black Swan, Habu, etc) Grip style has been the biggest factor in accuracy for me. I personally think recurves are little more forgiving than the hybrid longbows that I shoot. I've owned a true hill style longbow, but have heard they are forgiving as well. A fellow needs one of each to really make up his mind
