to those of you with these what weight do you prefer? i ordered some 140g, are they made of good metal that can hold a serious edge? my father is a old woodcarver and can put damn near a surgical sharp edge on anything made of decent metal.

They can hold a serious edge, but also not for long. Its not high quality metal. Very lightwieght, but easy to get an edge on.

thats fine i only need that one shot lol thanks man you've really helped me start to learn the art of traditional shooting, shooting a compound just didn't compair.
but is a 140g heavy enough without weighted inserts in an aluminum arrow to get the job done or should i go ahead and get the inserts?

I only shoot 125gr head. I generally shoot 170fps with a 550gr total arrow setup. I almost allways get a pass thru.

My setup is 2018 alum out of a 53lb zipper recurve.

I also shoot 165fps out of a 55lb IPE/Boo bow with 470gr setup. And I guarantee you it will get a pass thru too.

As long as It doesn't screw the spine of your arrow up 140 grain will do the trick just fine. As for sharpening them, piece of cake!! I got my dad using these and he's taking multiple animals with the same head. Just touch up the blade like you would do with any broadhead after shooting It Into an animal.
