Yesterday was a lot of fun at the show. Here is my rundown of my day. Throughout the day I met some great people, spent a lot of money and almost spent even more. Thankfully or unthankfully I'm not sure which yet, a few products were sold out by the time I doubled back to purchase them. I left home at 6:30 and arrived right at 9:00 and was pleased to have pre-ordered my ticket so I skipped the lengthy line. I had intended to attend 2 seminars with the possibility of a third but only ended up attending one. The 1 seminar I attended was focused on managing your property. Overall, I felt as though the information was good but it wasn't anything I wasn't already aware of. Overall, it as a good refresher as I move into more planning for the seasons without snow. I was hoping to catch either the seminar on predators or turkey calling, but found myself too busy walking around to the exhibitors. I stopped by Monster RAXX a couple times and checked out their new Bear Attractant (Hopefully be using this in another year if I draw in WI). As others have mentioned it was neat to talk to Tom and his son about their morning bird kill in SW WI that morning. Proud to say I will be starting/reestablishing my Monster Raxx mineral sites in a week as I will hopefully be able to get out now that the snow is almost gone. Other highlights were talking with Mr. Miller of In-Pursuit (I buy a lot of products from his brother at Scheels), Todd at White Knuckle (I pre-ordered the 12 ft pole saw finally and bought another hand saw (for my brother) in addition to the new DVD). I also enjoyed speaking to the local guys of Whitetail Adrenalin about their DVD Release (July) and plans for the upcoming season. Unique videos and this years will be the best yet. If you are not aware of them I encourage you to check them out! I snagged a couple Stic and Pics to go with the tree mounting systems I use for my Covert Cameras. I have a couple cameras I run that have desperately needed these for a long time and I finally gave in and bought a couple. I enjoyed speaking with the guys at Muddy. I was hoping they had some Hunter Pro's (discounted) I could buy and I wanted to pre-order some stands and the new bracketing system. Instead I was informed I could order online so I will look into that in the days to come. I talked myself out of another set of Muddy sticks, but finally picked up a micro Mount for a 2nd angle camera. Some of which I though was a good price and other which I found to be closer to retail. As for apparel there was a lot of stuff. All I snagged was some new Scent Lok light weight gloves to replace my well worn pair. In the discounted apparel section I passed on the Carry Lite Turkey Tom and /Pretty Penny Hen. It was a great deal, but I'll be fine with what I have for this season. The product I should have bought was the Reinhart doe target for $60 bucks. I'm in need of a new target and wish I had bought this one. I also went to the show with the intention to buy some new Binos. I continue to be impressed with Vortex and after delaying carrying too much stuff until later in the day I missed out on the 10x42 Diamondbacks. I will continue looking for a pair to buy. I stopped at a lot of realtors to discuss land. I am looking to buy some land at this time and gave them my name to get back to me if anything comes up in the size and location I am looking for. Lastly, Covert was the most widely sold camera at the show. I saw a nice mix of retailers selling their 2012 models as wells as the new 2013 line. I was pleased to see that customers were impressed with these products when hearing them talk about their experiences with Covert. Often times it took little work for the retailer to sell the product as the customers buddies or passerby's like me did the selling for them! Only let down was not meeting up with more of the forum users. I didn't see anyone at 10:00 and therefore headed back in to the crowds. Hope others enjoyed the show as much as I did. Happy Bday Ferg!
Yeah Dunn we got there about 10:30 and didn't see anyone. Huge crowds. Steve's management seminar was good but was pretty much beginner information. The shooting from treestands one was good as well. I also learned a bunch about lyme disease from that seminar. I shot the Elite's and very well may be upgrading to one of their bows next year.
umm that would probably have been me. I worked a 106 hr shift and got off work at 7 that morning. I was beat and that was the first time I sat down, so how come you didn't come say hi?
funny I was there at 10 until 1005 up on the stairs and stood by the door prize registration tables. I did run into a couple of people, Oly 44, extreme 16 & his dad; just missed tom at monster raxx. congrats to tom's son, what an amazing bird. Tom I told your son he can retire now cuz that ain't gonna happen again. Sorry I didn't get to see anyone else. I did go back about 1015 to see if any1 was there, but did'nt see any1. Good show though. missed a deal on Trophy ridge sight. guess there's always next yr. good meetn up with a few of the guys we did meet.
Was it in the shooting archery for an elevated treestand seminar? Black BHC jacket? I just noticed you after the seminar started and I kind of forgot about it afterwards. I was in the row in front of you all the way to the left. I had a Hoyt hat on and Brown hoodie and had my wife next to me.
Glad I met up with several from the forum and fellow Bowhunt or Die filmers over the course of the show. Thanks for stopping by our booth and talking with us. I too noticed a bunch of people wearing Bowhunting.com swag and that great too see!
Had a great time at the show today for my b-day. Was great to see everyone. Sorry I didn't run in to you Dean. I did look for you all day but never crossed paths. Spent way to much money today but glad I was finally able to pick up a Wicked hand saw and looking forward to trying it out soon! And WKPTodd thanks for the dvd's. Can't wait to watch them this week!
That Wicked hand saw has been my best purchase since 2010. 3 full bow and gun seasons and I have yet to break or even replace a blade! Prior to 2010 I would go thru 1-2 hand saws per year just on Osage tree limbs/branches. I wanted to purchase one of his telescopic saws, but had nearly blown all of my cash by the time I got to his booth the second time and was able to talk with him. I did give a testimony to a couple of guys trying to decide about purchasing one of his saws so maybe I'll receive a "royalty" check in the mail in the next couple weeks!
I did see several people walking around in bh.com hats and one guy in a jacket but didnt recognize anyone. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
yup that was me. it got crowded in there pretty quick. I went up front after the seminar was over to talk to the speaker. too bad we didn't meet up.
