MADE IN USA That's something that seems harder and harder to find on a product everyday. I'm not sure about you, but I'm sick of seeing "Made in China", "Made in Vietnam", "Made in Taiwan" on products that get brought into my home. It seems though, the problem is that people don't look or care to look where the product they are buying is made, but SHOULDN'T they?? After all, it's what keeps Americans working, American families fed, and the country less reliant on foreign trade. Not to mention, a beneficial side effect of buying American is the quality of the product vastly improves almost always. Why wouldn't you want to reap the benefits of buying American? Here are a few links that help people identify caompanies making products in the U.S. americansworking.com madeinamericaforever.com madeinusa.org I'm not completely innocent from buying foreign, but I am making it a vow to buy American whenever possible. Sure it may cost you a few extra bucks at times, but everytime you buy something made in the U.S. of A, it helps keep an American job here where it should be.
We try to buy made in the USA as much as possible. This is not easy for a lot of products. We live outside a small town in Missouri, and even more important for its survival, we try to shop at the local businesses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I understand that buying american isn't always an option. i just want people to atleast try, and these links are helpful in accomplishing that.
It's harder and harder to find because there isn't much demand for better quality, more expensive items. Most peoples priorities are to buy cheap. Explains why Walmart does so well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
It's hard. I try to buy American but its easy to get fooled into buying an American Product that is actually manufactured somewhere else. I have actually considered trying to one day start a treestand company just to increase the fully made in the USA brands out there.
Ive found that some crap made in America is crap. I just buy quality goods, I could care less where it comes from. I bought a toyota because all american cars are crap. Im not going to put myself out so that I can create jobs for people in America to screw me over with sub par products.
I think Toyota has more "American assembled" cars and trucks than any other company. I could be wrong though Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
It seems that demand for the very popular Ford Focus has exceeded supply so Ford is going to add a production line here in Michigan. Where have they been building all of them until now, you ask? Mexico. Yes, Hondas, Toyotas, etc., are built in the U.S., but the Chevrolet Aveo is built in Korea.
To get back on target with the thread, the major problem is greed. Between corporate greed and union greed, it is more cost effective to manufacture outside of America. American companies outsourced their manufacturing to what used to be third world countries. Now, some of those countries are outsourcing the jobs to poorer countries. America, Korea, and several European countries are now outsourcing to Vietnam and China. Give it a few more years and America will be getting the jobs back because our economy will be qualifying us for 3rd world jobs.
You mean American car COMPANIES. For the record, toyota is more american made than most ford or gmc vehicles. Honda has a plant within 4 hours of me also. I get that not everything made in USA is superior. Italian super cars, Israeli firearms, Persian rugs, etc. I'm not talking about buying american made things over products like these that are unmatched in quality. I'm talking about everyday things like some clothes, work boots, hunting equipment, etc. that should be bought american made. For example, I bought Red Wing work boots the last few years because they were comfortable. I tried on a pair of Thorogood boots this last time, and they were just as comfortable, if not even more comfortable. They are made in the USA with U.S. leather. Happened to check the label on my trusty Red Wings and it said "assembled in USA with imported materials. That made up my mind, no brainer. Bought the Thorogoods. These are the examples I'm talking about.

Sorry I guess my toyota car buying was more American than I thought = ) Basically though, I just buy quality, usually that means made in America, Germany, Japan, or those other great places. But if China can get me great items, ill buy it. Usually I try and stay away from China just because it's usually crap, guess if you're "buy American" im basically "dont buy chinese" everything else is fine. But Iowa is right, it'll soon come back to us, the **** can only roll so far down the hill before we have to pick it up again.
I just realized too, Toyota probably makes their cars here because it's cheaper since their economy is more expensive. America is their China.
Their main goal behind assembling cars here is to avoid the import tax that they would otherwise have to pay if they brought already assembled.
It's all about money. For most things, it's not cost effective for the consumer or manufacturer to build things in the US. The consumer will generally buy cheaper when quality is relatively the same.
Yes, and on top of Tembrys response, the cost of manufacturing things here is more cost effective for them to outweigh paying the import tax.
