I've got a couple of dandies showing up in MA... huge 10 and huge 8.. They'd be dead now if we could hunt at a normal time like most states.... ugh... Had success this past weekend w/ my 12 year old daughter on the MA youth hunt. She took her first buck. She shot it with a TC Pro Hunter .50...
Congrats to your daughter in her first buck! And nice for you two to get out and spend some quality time together! Best/biggest buck so far this year...hoping he'll come around while I'm in the stand!
ADAMANT... Are you the guy that shot that monster buck in Rutland 2 years ago that was in the paper... I only ask cause your pic kinda looks like him Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
We're almost there guys! Is everyone all ready to go? I wish it was gonna be cooler out tomorrow but the wind predictions look good for me!
Augustas no I am not the guy but it would be nice! Anyone get any it yet and see anything? I have been at work Monday and Tuesday plan to go out tomorrow..
Congrats on a Nice buck! Saw the photo on mass Bowsite which I'm having a hard time registering for for some reason...I'll be going out this afternoon so we'll see how it goes!
Way to go on that Buck bud he's a beaut! That's making me excited to get back out there at the end of this week. It's been a very slow start for me but more and more sign has been popping up every time out so it's just a matter of time...just wish I had more time to get out there...
They are moving more now with these temps...passed on a small 8 last night and had a spike and a doe w/ fawn come in this morning. Back out this afternoon!!
Great day today... even though I let them walk! Right at first light once settled in the stand I grunted a few times...had a basket 8 come in from The west and a small six come in from the east. The small six came in all poofed up and ears down and they started fighting/sparring right in front of me! Had the same two this even come in and do the same thing but they were out about 60-70yards! Cool to watch
Bucks chasing does this morning and evening words were alive...had a doe come through at 730 and within the next half hour had 4 different bucks on her trail! no shot! same thing tonight...no shot but was covered in deer stayed in the stand for an extra hour until they moved off not to bump them..taking a chance with a slightly poor wind tomorrow to stay in the action! its on!!
Got my first deer on Saturday! Big 127 lb dressed doe at 15 yds double lunged! Only went 35 yds and toppled over! Such an amazing feeling! Had 2 bucks come by earlier one was massive but didn't present a shot and the other was a very solid 8pt but I got mixed up looking through my peep at where he was and thought I had a second shooting lane coming up but he was past where I thought he was, stopped him with a grunt twice but it wasn't a clear shot so feeling pretty down and hoping one of them would come back by I sat it out waiting and sure enough 3 nice does came down out of the woods, I took her in the same spot I Hesitated on the buck earlier so I got my redemption! I know with the bucks cruising it was not optimal time to take a doe but having never gotten a deer I was sticking to the mantra of if it's brown its down! Can't get back out until next Monday (my cousin thought November 11th was a good time for a wedding) but I'm hoping to connect with one of those bucks I saw that day! Happy hunting good luck out there guys!
Looking to try my luck in MA next fall. Any recommendations of which zones/regions have good chances for a rut hunt in 2017? Any help much appreciated.
Seems like a ton of nice bucks were taken in zone 11... as compared to most other zones.. with zone 10 close behind from my observations. Some nice bucks taken out here in Western MA / Berkshire County as well... but not like the Eastern part of the state
