As the weather warms up I just wanted everyone to be aware of the serious health risks that Lymes Disease can pose. For all you turkey hunters out there ticks become most active in the spring until mid-late summer. So wether your hunting or summer camping and into early season bowhunting be aware of ticks and check yourself and your kids. My dad has lymes disease and it has greatly affected his health. Lymes cases have grown in big numbers over the last ten years and it is very important to catch it and treat it early. Bowhunting.com/Facebook posted a great link that goes into the topic in further detail, stay safe and enjoy the outdoors!!
Thank for the info I will make sure to check this year(going turkey hunting for the first time, though I won't be using my bow.)
check out www.deerticks.com It just may save you some serious problems this coming spring if indeed you do get bitten.
I'm not sure why I DON'T have Lyme Disease...maybe I do but don't know it? In the below pictures are what we call seed ticks. These guys infestate my hunting grounds from spring to fall. Once turkey season is over in the spring, I stay out until late summer when I trim some lanes and prep for the season. Anyway, I got a bunch of these little suckers on me several years ago back in highschool and thought they were chiggers. I actually put nail polish on them and left them over night. Again, I thought they were chiggers. This picture is from a couple years ago. PERMANONE is my friend. They fall off my pants before reaching the knee.
good posts, I found ticks all over my buck I shot on oct. 1st. good thing too check yourselves right away coming out of the woods!
