I can put you in touch with my brother n law who has it if you like?
Not to scare the chit out of you but he has been through hell because it was diagnosed
so late after being to numerous doctors and the mayo clinic up in Mn.
Turns out maybe half hour from me he reached a doc that specializes in lime disease
and has gotten him on the right track. Feel free to PM.

my doc called me at home today after i called him yesterday bed stricken, going in first thing in the morn for a few test and more blood test. I hope he is up on this. On the phone i think he feels i am nuts..... and does not believe this is a area for ticks that carry this. and i hope he and the hospital have the means and knowledge to test for this.

How would i find a doctor that specializes in lyme disease?

Ultra, I started having severe headaches and joint pain 5-6 weeks ago. I went in and got tested for Lyme's disease but it came back negative. The doctor said they have a lot of false negatives when it comes to Lyme's disease. You might want them to check for Mono. I had a blood test after the second episode where I got extremely ill in a very quick period of time and it turned out that I had MONO. I am going on 36 and had never had mono but I can tell you one thing, the two times I really felt sick with mono over the past month I was absolutely miserable with joint pains, nausea and headaches. Just an idea. BEST OF luck to you.

I had it, and was lucky enough to catch it early (I actually had the tick on me, had it removed, and watched the area). Within three days of removal, I had the red bullseye appearing, so I went to the doctor, he ran tests, but got me started on antibiotics right away since the signs were pretty pointing to the obvious. However, as to the accuracy of the tests, mine came back negative as well. That should tell you something. Did you have a tick on you recently that you actually discovered? Any areas swelling, tender or red? If your doctor doesn't take you seriously, find one that does.

Also, have you had any swollen glands in your arms, legs, or neck? About one week after the tick was pulled, and approximately two days after I was on antibiotics, my glands in my arms (near the bite site) swelled up VERY large.

thanks for the replys, first how do you get mono... i cant wait to say this to the wife.

I am 48 6'1 200 lb just for some general info. I pulled ticks off me during deer season and spring turkey.
I have memory loss, went to the mail box twice yesterday... pain in all my joints somedays i can take 10 advile a day with hardly any relief from leg pain or joints , shoulders hips knees.
I have super high blood suger 180-215 almost anytime of day and take med for it, blood pressure meds,
could a lower back spine type injury be causing this (disc) or ?

I have been living like this thinking it's old age because of all the injurys over the years, it's the evil kenival type crashes that were adding up,but i guess all i can do is keep getting tested. thanks for all the info.

I will ask doc about mono, hell at this point i ask anything.

I have been diagnosed with Lymes Disease three times. Joint pain and lethargy were my symptoms. There is also another tick borne illness that acts similarly to Lymes get tested for that right away and good luck. The blood test get better every year or so it seems.

My dad went nearly 15 years with lymes disease before it was ever correctly diagnosed. Over the years he began losing feeling in his toes, became fatigued quickly, and also had joint problems. This led to him gaining nearly 75 pounds, which then led to even more health problems down the road.

He had been tested several times over the years and all of them came back negative. He finally found a doctor that tested him for some rare form of the disease and he tested positive. So much time had passed though, that not a whole lot was able to be done for him.

I forgot to mention that my doctor prescribed me a full 2 weeks of anti-biotics because she believed my tests might have been a false negative for Lyme disease. I had not been on anti-biotics in 8 years. In addition to the Mono symptoms I had the lymp nodes in my groin swell up so large that if I even brushed the skin around them they would ache like hell. I had knee pain and felt severely disoriented. I have been around a tremendous amount of ticks this year and really feel that I might have gotten Lyme's disease as well. I am not really sure but after 6 weeks of feeling exhausted I ran for the first time last night.

The headaches I experienced on the way home from my father in Texas were so bad that I was incapacitated and could barely function. I felt like I needed to go to the ER, but did not want to waste the money for the plane ticket so I just sucked it up. It was borderline the worst medical experience of my life. I did not eat for over 40 hours, not one single bite of food b/c of the pain in m head. I am not really sure one can explain that from Mono, but I believe one can from Lymes disease, that is why I feel I had it.

GOOD luck and I really hope you feel better buddy.

Sending you a PM, but for EVERYONE here, when you're having ANY health issues, WRITE DOWN a list of questions, and DO NOT let that doc leave the room until they are ALL answered if that doc does, then he/she is not meeting your needs. I even encourage my patients in the hospital to do this exact thing.

You want to get on a regimen of anti-biotic's ASAP!! If your Dr. starts to hee-ha around, I would go to someone that will prescribe the necessary medication as it's my understanding that the longer you wait, the less effective anti-biotics will be (if caught early enough and anti-biotics are started, goal is that it will essentially cure it)...
