I have been out 6 times since Wed (only drew my bow once and was busted)...have only seen three deer in the woods while hunting.

Anyway, getting better with the LW Assault and climbing sticks, have it set so when I lay in my 3rd stick (getting a 4th) I have the quick hook around my neck, lay that in and then pull the stand up. Hook up the other strap and check it to make sure its solid.

All this time I am using the lineman rig to be hands free. Once I set in the stand, I am forced to either disconnect from the tree, or transition to the overhead - fall arrest setup of the lineman rig.

What procedure and when do you switch over?

I was thinking as I was driving home this morning after hunting that I need to make sure that the lineman rig is over the stand after I put the hook in place, not sure that will work going to try it later on today.

Getting addicted badly to this sport!

what i SHOULD do is hook up my safety strap before i disconnect from the lineman's belt...... then transfer to the stand. what ends up happening is that i'll disconnect and just climb on my stand.... then hook up my safety strap. i gotta be better about this, kind of a pain, but i should look at it like, "its beats the heck outta falling"

I am using the harness and fall arrest that came with the stand (want a vest... but will wait until after the season and hope to score one on sale)...

So my lineman and fall arrest are the same. But I have been doing the same as you, getting things set in and then climbing in.

I see great risk in that.
