I have two LW stands which I have used for well over 5 years now. Maybe closer to 8 years.

I can not remember if I received stabilizer straps and I discarded them or stuffed them in a closet never to be seen again. I did not think twice about using stablizer straps until I was reading through a LW product guide.

Question to the folks here who have the stands. Does everyone use them? Any folks not using them? Do they make a difference? Assume so but, since I never had or used them, I have no idea.

    Thanks in advance.

They are worth using. Being connected while climbing is a good way to keep from losing the platform just in case your feet fall out. Most improbable but possible(remember Murphys law). At your final height the stabilizer straps really lock the bottom/top in to make the stand even more secure.

I think I am gonna try just using one strap under the center of my seat. Anyone see why this would not work? I hate having those straps on the outside of my legs.

Thanks for the replies to this post. I am going to locate the straps if I have them and give it a shot in the back yard. Not sure if I have them. If not, I may order up a set when I purchase new traction belts soon.

I've never felt like the seat was unstable since I lock it in with a bungee however, that may be because I never used the straps. I may not know what stable actually feels like.

How would you get the seat out of the way while you're standing?

If I am standing, I can loosen the strap and turn the seat out of the way. If you are standing on the platform, there is really no need for added stability in my opinion. I don't know yet, I am just considering trying it that way for a few sits to see if I like it better.

GMMAT - I have always used one of the bungee cords provided. this allows you to sit on it as well as move it into the up position for standing against the tree. Cord wraps around the tree, and hooks onto the back of the seat. The bungee has a hook on it, that attaches to the back of the traction belt.

Not sure why Jeff. Mine seems ok as long as I don't pick up on it.

I just have this fear of my boot or something getting caught in one while turning for different positions. Neither one of my bows pose an issue. I just got so comfortable with not having them on the sides with my Viper. I don't like anything I feel may be a noise issue at an important moment. I can work around it, just not sure yet if I want to.

Never had an issue with them getting in the way. did have one of the plastic buckles crack though, human error forgot to loosen them while decending easy to fix though good as new. Having them on is more of a security/safety issue should the platform loose it's grip for some reason or another.
