No, didn't see any real big deer this year. We were pretty early to the party. Everything was still green, so deer didn't need to move as much!

Started off this morning looking for geese but eventually got bored. I then switched over to Snipe hunting. First time ever doing any kind of waterfowl hunting and first time I've ever shot anything in flight! It was a BLAST.

I also got my new stand hung and check the camera, I had 20 pics of a blade of grass, but there were prints in my mock scrape. I repositioned my cam and they started cutting corn today. Can't wait until the season starts!!

Awesome opener! Will take me 6 weeks to see that many deer.

I check the cams again today. Just doe and a bear. No buck. Also swapped on stand around and setup another. Two weeks....I will be ready to shoot.

One field chopped. They aren't chopping the other one due to poor growth. I now have a perfect punch point. They cut the outer 4 rows on the standing corn and that's it. Easy 24 yard shot from my stand

Went out over the weekend and checked one of the cameras that has been sitting for awhile. It has had some pretty consistent action so I am hopeful opening weekend goes well. In the morning we will be duck hunting and in the evening I will be deer hunting. Hope everyones seasons are off to a good start!

Nice!! I want to build one myself, but I'm waiting until we buy a home in the spring!

I posted this in the midwest section:

Well, I am having quite the pre-season! First I won the Lottery and will get to do a 4 day muzzleloader hunt at Sangchris State Park. Then, yesterday, I got a package in the mail stating that I have been assigned an IRAP hunt. This is a program where private property owners in Illinois, can use the DNR to let hunters onto private land. The land I got is nice and about an hour from my home. I will be the only person allowed to hunt it from Oct 16th until the 31st. I was shocked and I am very pumped.

The land is in Macoupin County, straight south of my home. The description states:

This property is compiled of old, overgrown pasture ground that is surrounded by agriculture fields. Although this is a smaller tract, do not let the size fool you. This is a perfect funnel point for deer.

    Any thoughts?

Sounds awesome!! Is there any word of hard mast such as acorns, apples, etc? I wish NY would give me a chunk of land all to myself for a few weeks lol, never going to happen
