Same here on dead down wind. You never know with wildlife. Works with one and not the other. One thing I know for certain is I like an animal upwind anyday.
Same here, but that doesn't always seem to happen. Luckily I almost always have a NW wind where I hunt. It's perfect when they come in from that direction, but blows right to them if they come in from the E or SE.
I used the buck bomb doe p last Sunday and had 2 big body deer under stand 2 dark to tell what they were but just thought I'd mention that too Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Nothing but a lone doe and tons of gunfire this morning. Maybe that gun season has started the deer will hang out where it's nice a quiet. Decided to leave a little early this morning while nothing was around. It's not really an evening spot but that may change with all the extra pressure surrounding the property.
No gun season here, but I only saw 1 lone deer this morning. I was sitting on food plot. Might be out heavy tonight with snow storm. We had to get over a foot. I'm waiting for a snowplow at farm to head home for the day. Need to clean up snow at our place. About a 45 minute drive. Wife has the jeep and I have the car. Drove our ranger on about 2 miles of gravel to try to make a track for my car. Car wouldn't make it up first hill. Might be hunting tonight after all. Pretty morning out. Who is still hunting out of this group? My hunting will slow way down after this weekend. Might sit on food plot late December and early January.
I am still hunting. Going out tomorrow to hunt all day. Finally getting some colder weather here. It has been in the high 60s and 70s here all month. High tomorrow and Monday is in the 40s. Lows on the 20s. Still hunting the buck I call FullHouse. I will shoot a big doe first chance I get. One of the many things I love about NC is you can bow hunt on Sundays during gun season. No gun hunting on Sundays if you are within 500 yards of a residence. Also you can bowhunt ALL year long on Private Property. I just wish it got really cold here before deer season ends on Jan. 1st. Good Hunting to all the are out!!
Yes tomorrow morning should be nice. I will be out there Mon and Tues morning as well. Luckily there shouldn't be much blasting going on where I hunt considering there are houses everywhere. I too plan on putting a doe down in the next few days. The one that came in this morning didn't present a shot, but I was going to let one fly if she did. Cleared a few more shooting lanes before calling it a morning. Good luck to everyone still at it.
my number 1 buck showed up again, he is a stud for central Michigan. right now he is nocturnal but he seems to be locked on a doe, so where she goes i bet he will be. luckily I think I have an idea where she is! snowin now and temp to drop to the teens tomorrow evening hope he gets on his feet a little early!
Do many bowhunt all year or mostly just fall? Something I didn't know existed for property owners in other states.
Deer season ends Jan 1st, but you can hunt hogs and coyotes year long from my understanding. This is my first season here in NC so I'm not 100% sure on everything.
Decided to stay home this evening and watch the Buckeyes play instead of hunting. What a slap in the face... Oh well, won't bother next Sat. I'll be in a tree.
I bowhunt all season long because both properties I hunt are Private property. I also bowhunt for whitetail deer from Feb - Aug on a Depredation Permit I have from a farmer. I can only hunt antlerless deer with this permit.
well guys I had one of my best nights ever tonight. passed a 4.5 yr old 8 with my gun that is a real stud. trying to get my wife on him. also had a 3.5 yr old 9 at 40 yards, saw another 3.5 yr old half rack that would have been a great deer! As well as two 2.5 yr old! awesome hunt in a big snow storm! big boys were on there feet feeding! here are a few pics. my wife will be setting down there tomorrow, that big boy better not do that again! lol
Does this mean a shot was taken? Hopefully. Going back to hunt the food plot tonight. Got real cold last night. Over a foot of snow could make things go well.
