Still grinding it out here in Wisconsin. I'll admit I'm being picky on which buck I shoot. I could have another 140 points on the board for us but I want to shoot a deer that I'm truly happy with, and not just shoot one for the deer contest. Hunting all day today. Weather is cold but extremely windy!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Buddy shot this morning. Might have been deer I've been chasing. I'm off to help him load it. Might be a close relative. Saw 3 bucks this morning. 2 does. 2 8 pointers that were decent. 120-130ish. Waiting on bigger ones or eating a tag. Pulled trailcams. We'll see what is running around.
Only thing I seen this morning was a grey fox. Came in right under me before camera light. All day sit tomorrow.
Well boys I put down a buck this evening. Will post more details later. Not the biggest thing ever but I'm stoked
My morning hunt got cut short. I was in my stand and right at first light two teenagers came through carrying a rifle. Around 7:30 they came back through heading back home. I watched them to see which house they were heading to. After seeing where they went, I climbed down and drove over there in the Jeep. When I pulled up they were just walking up to the house being greeted by their dad. I'm guessing he was checking to see if they had any luck. When he seen me pull up the boys went inside and he walked to my jeep. I told him that I seen them trespassing and carrying a rifle all while not wearing any blaze orange. I told him that rifle season isn't open and that trespassing and shooting a firearm in the area are illegal. He then told me that they had been at home all morning and weren't hunting. I knew better and said ok. I also told him that the next time it happens, it will not be me that is pulling up to have a talk. I wasn't mad or upset with the teenagers as much as I was a the so called adult. It just frustrates me that a parent will allow his kids to break the law and then lie about it. I went through the proper way to get permission and do everything by the book. Oh well, I guess I felt like venting a little bit.
Parents are weird. Usually stick up for kids even if wrong. Hopefully he talked to kids and told them not to do again. Illinibowhunter. .....pictures. I'm not patient at all. I check my phone way too much. Buck in picture that my friend shot was the one I had videos of the past two years. He scored 150 3/8. Mass killed the score. He's mounting it. I now have another stand I can use. He has only sat in his stand 2 times. I know of a big deer over there. Mile from my stand.
This is picture of buck last year. Saw him this spring. He should be around. I don't have any cameras on this farm.
Good morning with unfortunate events. Before daylight I had a buck chasing some does under me. Around 7 the does worked back through. Behind them was a nice 3.5-4.5 year old 8 point. He was at 43yds. Put the HHA in between 40-45 and settled my pin. Let it fly and clipped a small twig I couldn't see at that distance. Needless to say it was a clean miss. He didn't really spook, but he kept on after the does like nothing happened. Just got finished relocating my setup. The last few sits I've noticed the deer have changed their trail that they are using. Max distance is now 35yds all around that strip of woods they're using. Maybe tomorrow morning will have a better outcome.
Hit a pretty good buck tonight. Rounding up the posse and going to look for him at 8pm. Wish me luck!
