There really isn't anything better than coffee in a deer stand

Now that isn't 70 degrees helps too.

You got that right. Even though I still don't have a jacket on today. Reading all this hunting while sitting at a conference is quite a bummer. Makes me want to sit in a tree

Shooter came right at me. Ducked into woods at 38 yards. Tall, dark and mass.

Had two more bucks show up on the urban property. They keep getting bigger, but not quite there yet.

Also caught two of them sparring.

    Good work LSU.

Bucks are falling around my area. I'm just not seeing much. Buck I'm after was by stand Friday during daylight late morning. Other buck I'd like to shoot has a broken G3 that was split before. He's still showing on cameras at night. Got a new young 8 point that is tall and nice looking.

Going to give our farm a few days off to let things settle. Done for today.

Completely bummed. My number one buck on one of my properties finally showed himself and gave me a shot. The only problem. I had a rare miss. I was completely calm just like I always am but upon ranging it afterwards the deer was 26 and I used my 20 yard pin and it went right under him.

I have seen him for the past three years and I put him at 4.5 or 5.5 years old. Probably a 160 chocolate rack that I call moose.

Completely sick to my stomach but thankful that I missed completely and didn't wound him.

I am completely down but will try again next weekend

Like you said. Clean miss better than bad hit. Keep your head up. Shoot your bow some at target to make sure it isn't hitting low. Don't know your set up, but 6 yards difference at that range should have still hit him most of the time.

Shake it off. Sorry to hear.

Justin you are exactly right. That is why I was so surprised that I missed. I am planning on making sure everything is ok this week before hitting it hard again next week.

Just super frustrating when you sit in a tree and pass on smaller deer left and right just waiting on that perfect moment to shoot a nice one. Going to take me a bit to shake that miss off.

I have been doing the same thing since I missed. What in the world did I do wrong? Should I have waited until he moved instead of potentially rushing the shot. Sigh...

Good news is we are seeing some good deer. They'll still be around. Go get em. I'm ducking out of the office this afternoon to sit tonight. We are in the hunt. Not that this contest is that big of a deal, but still fun being towards the top.
