Funny thing is this conversation was breached expecting discussion about the listed things lol....and it is a GOAT argument.
Ty this discussion has done nothing but reinforce why I eat lunch at 11:00 so I can eat alone and read my newspaper in peace.
Are you kidding me saying he has the most super Bowl rings and is at or near the top in touchdowns wins yards and playoff wins versus Horry who just has wins. How can you even use that comparison?
Early you stated the ring thing only. I will say this is what cracks me up anyone else noticed for the most part those that don't believe he is GOAT have no combative argument with either stats, play, weaknesses discussed on him. I simply don't like saying GOAT in anything but I am not sure I could argue against him being called such, because the caveat of his coach is something we will never know and could only speculate. All I know is if the Manning boys hadn't been born Brady's over/under for SB rings is probably 8
He does make average players great. Offensively...Randy Moss. Rob Gronkowski and MAYBE Corey Dillon will make the HOF. Wes Welker wont although he played well. Soapbox...its the same arguement us Packers fans make for Rodgers. He will retire having played with ZERO hall of fame offesive players. And maybe 2-3 defensive players (Peppers and Woodson). Ty I only mentioned rings before because the players listed had similar stats so I didn't think it was necessary until you try and bring in Horry who only won championships and was never even close to being one of the greatest ever.
Why haven't they played with more HOFers? Because of the salary cap and free agency. Look back to the old packers teams, were all those players in the HOF that much better than players at the same positions on other teams, no not really. They are HOFers because they got to stick with a winning team. Today, that doesn't happen because teams can't afford to pay the better players when they are also paying Top QB salaries. Look at all the QBs that just went in or are expected to go in as of now. Elway, Favre, Warner, Peyton, Brady, Eli, Brees, Ben, Rodgers, Over the same time, how many HOF offensive lineman can you name? It is far to easy for QBs to be considered HOFers because of Rings, yet the players around them that actually get hit while making it possible for them to get rings get over looked because they are not the big names.
Yes, there are 5 times as many Offensive Lineman as there are Quarter Backs. Do you think they are going to put in 45 offensive lineman from the same time period as those QBs? Hell no.
This is why the GOAT thing is stupid. If Peyton or Rodgers had the defenses that Brady has had, they'd have more super bowl wins. Tom Brady is great, no doubt, but it is a lot easier to win Super Bowls when your defense isn't giving up 40 points per game. I don't think anyone can be considered the GOAT at any position unless you absolutely blow everyone else out of the water. Like Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Jerry Rice.
Defenses are also victims of their offense. Offensive turnovers, field position , 3 and outs all play large parts in points allowed.
