Ive used them w/mediocre success. When they work, they work great. When they don't, you just have another arrow. It's the way that you set the nock to set it off. Too far back & it might not go off. I hit a deer in the Rear femur yrs ago, and the arrow never lit up. I had a missed shot at a deer and could see that arrow about 50yds away sticking out of the ground lit up. If it weren't for it being lit, I probably would never have found that arrow. Take it for what it's worth.
I've had spotty luck with the lumenocks. I've since switched over to the Firenocks. More $$$ but much more dependable and you can replace the batteries in them.
They were a bit sketchy. Easton tracer nocks worked better for me but my homemade ones worked best of all.
I used them last year. The first deer I shot it worked fine but it didn't work the second time. I called the company and the sent me a new one,so I can't complain. I'll have to see how they work this year.
When checking on lighted nocks I was told by many to stay away from Luminocks, I'll see if I can find the thread as I don't remember why other than many mentioned Tracer Nocks being better. Here's a little video tutorial I did on Tracer Nocks. : Tracer Nock Video I did have issue with the first one but in their defense, I'm using these in some bigger XX78's out of my 82nd. The nock has little support inside such a big shaft and the hard pounding it's taken from the 82nd, well the first one broke. Easton did however replace it for free and I shot my Halloween buck with it and I thought it was cool how it lit and when I found the buck, it was in beacon/blinking mode. :d
Knock on wood, so far the only trouble i have had with Luminock is after the shot, sometimes they dont work again. But 100% record with them lighting up with each shot.
Rob, did you get a chance to try the Firenocks? You don't have to screw around with a magnet with the Firenocks.
I have not Christine but I was anxious to try them. Honestly, last fall when I was looking into them, I didn't find them locally.
I make my own, and have had very satisfactory results with them... I've got about $3.50 invested in each one I make. I made one for Matt / PA when he came out and he fell in love with it. Here's a step-by-step tutorial if anyone wants to give it a shot... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMqLT-4ezzk That's the problem of being able to make your own; I've given away so many to friends now that I've lost a lot of money on them, LOL... but it's an inexpensive way to help a friend out and give them something that's worth way more to them than I've got in them.
Greg - The video comes up as no longer available... I'd love to see it, though. Any way to send it to me?
Check your browser settings or something... I watched the first bit of it before linking to it here, unless he pulled it JUST after I linked to it, LOL! Let me see if I can go view it again...
Yep, something's goofy with your computer or settings... it starts playing immediately, and I'm on a different computer today than I was on last night when I sent it.
I love the firenocks. No magnets, great design. Have not had a problem with them. Easy to turn off. Well worth the money.
