Although i will probably never shoot lumen arrows because P&Y wont allow entries with lighted nocks, I thought I would share this.

At one of my recent visits to my favorite archery proshop, I noticed a gentleman shooting throughthe paper tuner. He was shooting lumen arrows without fletchings while shooting through the paper. I have seen this done before so I didnt think much of it. What really got me was when i started a conversation with him he said they were a prototype. They came from the factory. 0001 in straightness. I thought wow... a small diameter with those credentials???

What really amazed me when he started to shoot from 20 and then 30 yards.... WITHOUT fletchings!!! All the while only shooting three arrows and keepin 2 and 3 inch groups at 20 and 30 yards repectively.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this before?

It's called bare shafting. I do that with my recurve when trying a new arrow set up. Works great. When I bare shafted my arrows flew like darts, hardly a difference when I put the fletchings on. This guys set up (the one your talking about) Is right on.

I've never shot lighted nocks. I'd think shooting lighted nocks at dusk would also help to determine if the bow is tuned properly.
