Shot my first doe this season a couple weeks ago. She came in perfect but then circled around not offering up a shot till well behind me at about 30 yards. As you may be able to see in the pic. I spined her a little far back. Dropped her like a rock but had to hustle in and put a kill shot on her. (I can't stand to watch them bleed out slow) I don't know wether I just flubbed the shot or she jumped the string a bit. A few inches lower and it would have been a long tracking gut shot.
I did the same thing Monday afternoon. Shot at a doe at 35, she ducked the string a bit and an issue with knocks caused me to shoot high. I ended up hitting her in the neck. Dropped her, but she ended up rolling down a hill about 35 yards and died quickly fortunately.
Well said and very true! You still got the job done at the end of the day and put her down as quickly as you could with your second shot, great job! Congrats, she'll taste great!!!
I'll take a bad shot that ends in a quick recovery than a perfect shot that ends in a lost deer or long track job. Congrats, bottom line is you in the pic with your deer.
