Shot a 10 points Thursday morning 5 yards from my tree stand, deep angel and I shot a hair inches forward. I found good blood but I lost blood after 250 yards ( 100 yards my side and 150 yards on Neigbor). I did wait 3 hours after a shot. That sucked. He is a good one on that property, I made mistakes this time. Last 3 bucks I killed they died less than 1 minute . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’d say look again today before you give up. Maybe see some scavenger birds overhead or find more blood
You hit a lung with all those bubbles in there he is dead somewhere. I’ve followed a blood trail 600 yards on a buck that had a one lung hit.
I spent over 4 hours to track him. I know he will die. I hate walked around on Neigbor property too much. I am working today, Sunday and Monday. I told Neigbor let me know if he find my buck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
hard to hit a lung like that and just give up. It’s gotta be close to last blood. As high of a hit as it was you won’t find much blood because the hole is higher up on the body cavity he will fill up with blood on the inside. That deer is no doubt dead and in my opinion you can’t give up after 4 hours, you ended that animals life it deserves the chance of a fair recovery... no hard feelings just my opinion
Tracking deer can be tough and sometimes discouraging, but I’ve followed trails where you find a pin drop every 30 yards or so. The one that went 600 yards was shot from 5 yards at a steep angle just like the one in that picture. There were times where yes it took hours to find the next drop with 4 people looking just don’t give up yet, you drew back you gotta follow up. Simply saying that you told the neighbor to find him sounds lazy and unsportsmanlike
I know the shot I didn’t like I waited 3 hours, he went to Neigbor property about 150 yards then I lost a last blood. I did circles at least 600, 700 yards after last blood. I track him 4 hours. I didn’t like walk around Neigbor property too much ( iowa law allow you track animal on Neigbor without weapons on hand) I have no more vacation. I noticed my Neigbor know if they find my buck. Back 7 years ago I asked permission him to track my deer he said no, he told me that if he find him he let me know. ( I know I don’t need to ask him permission but when I asked he said no you have difficult decision ) If on my property I will track him anytime. I don’t want to hurt animal or let them die there no recover. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Deer can survive single lung hits, unfortunately. I have tracked many single-lungers (based on shot angle, and blood sign) with Ruby (my avatar) over the years and recovery has been hit or miss, mostly miss. Give it a good effort, and move on... -fsh
Justin, Have you scored your buck yet? Curiously waiting Lovehunt- if you tried your best **** happens, but have you seen buzzards or anything on the neighbors property. Again just curious. Head held high if you have given it your best. It happens. i didn't put the **** (POOP) but the other word
My Australian buddy has left Texas. He will be stopping in Kansas for the night and should be here tomorrow or Thursday. He will hunt for a week by himself minus a few afternoons where I can slip away. Then November 2-10 it’s go time for me! My top priority is to get him a solid Iowa whitetail! @Lovehunt11 sorry to see that what a stud of a buck, keep your head up and keep at it though! Things have been kinda slow for me the last two weeks unfortunately. We have had some crazy high winds though and its been raining a lot. Passed a few does this past weekend that I was really itching to shoot, but I try not to in this particular spot until the late season. Pretty optimistic as the temps continue to drop and we get closer and closer to the rut! Only good news I have currently is my new addition! Bought a gun dog last week to be my new best friend and waterfowl hunting partner! He is a Black British Labrador Retriever and he is off to a great start! I will be picking him up next October 2020 once he completes his gun dog training and passes all his advanced/seasoned hunt trial tests. To say I am pumped is an absolute understatement! Here he is at 9 weeks old, meet SHR BUO's Here Comes the Boom "Boomer"
Yes it’s around 120. I gotta get some antler tape and get it right on for the pics so there isn’t any problems. The G4’s being so small crushed his score but I’m so happy with this buck it was a bruiser
You will need to submit an actual score breakdown. Here’s an example. It’s super easy. Just measure each main beam, and each tine length. Those are the g measurements. A 9 point should have 9 of them. Then you get 4 mass measurements, which is mass, measure between base and brows, brows and the g2s, g2 and g3, and between g3 and g4. Also measure widest spread. Then add them all together for score. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My friend ( landowner) talked to Neigbor too. Time to move on until I hear any news from him. It hard to try to motivate my self to hunt at this time. Good luck with your hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Will be in Ohio Neil next Friday. Several nice looking bucks on camera and the weather is looking great. Corn cut two days ago.
