Ok if your team had the first pick in the draft would you want them to take Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III? I didnt think anyone could close the distance on Luck before the season. With all the talk about him being the best prospect since Elway, plus he is a big, tall QB with a cannon for an arm. But RG III is an exciting player with a big arm and is incrediably smart. I would still lean towards Luck, but if my team picked RG III, I wouldnt be mad.
I would still go with Luck! RGIII is an exciting player and can make plays with his arm or legs, but I think Luck is the better option for a long term QB.
RG is a good option, but he had VERY good receivers against a pretty weak conference. luck had average receivers. I actually heard Herbstreit say Luck's number 1 was worse than RG's number 3. Not sure which way I would lean, but if it were my team I would never draft a QB first over all. Colts really sucked this year and have ALOT of holes...Luck will get killed, RG could escape a little better, but still get killed. To answer the question, Luck to avoid "missing" on him and loosing my job in a year or so, not that RG would be a bad choice.
I wouldn't say that the Big 12 is a weaker conference than the PAC12. I would still take Luck, he is a prototypical NFL QB. But what do I know, I thought Cam Newton would flop.
Who knows? Ive never put too much stock into "rating players" coming out of college. More guesswork than factual IMO. You can get an idea, but really don't know until they play in the NFL. Some first round busts.....Ryan leaf, Akili Smith, Ki jana Carter, Lawrence Phillips, Cade Mcknown, Jim Drunkenmiller, Patrick Ramsay, etc..... All were hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then you look at players that come from nowhere like a 6th round pick Tom Brady or undrafted Tony Romo.
I would go with Luck, which is good because, well, my team has the #1 spot??? I'm simply not a fan of high moving quarterbacks. Limited mobility seems to win out over the runningback with an arm style players. I definitely wouldn't classify Vick, Young or Newton in the same comparison to Manning, Manning, Brady, Rothlesburger. (Randall Cunningham was a freak, he doesn't count).
The best QB in this class probably isn't even listed in the top 10 by the likes of Mel Kiper and others.
not talking about the conference at all...look at my sig, you and I both missed on Scam, what a year he had...
