Exaggerating a bit aren't you? Many of the games have at least been competitive and the SEC has even lost a couple BCS games the past few years (Ark last year, Bama in 09) The only real impressive beat down I can think of in recent years was when Florida kicked OSU's butt in the championship in like 07. I don't know that I would make a big deal out of the blow outs of the likes of Hawaii and Cinc
Yeah, I know. I don't think LSU would have a lot of trouble with Stanford. I'm just poking fun at the most over-hyped game in college football history.
Its not so much that they deserve it, just that IF stanford and ok st lose, no one else will deserve it more. Bamas loss is the easiest to stomach out of all the one loss teams. Bottom Line, you pick the championship game based on who the two best teams are, or to word it differently who the best team is and the team with the best shot of beating them. In either case, Bama and LSU are those two teams. As an LSU Fan, I would pray for anything but a rematch as well! What is scary is that LSU could pull a repeat with the talent they return next year... Agreed Vito on the game not living up to the hype as far as entertainment factor. It did seal my opinions on how good the teams are however. Their defenses are just flat out fun to watch how they shut teams down.
What if Oregon wins out? They would have defeated Stanford, won the PAC-12, and lost to LSU on a "neutral" site. Oregon's loss to LSU would look better than Bama's, IMO.
Watching one good defense is fun, but watching two against each other in football is not...to me. I like to see some scoring by at least one of the teams. I know people that love to see a bunch of home runs in a baseball game, but I would rather watch a dominating pitching performance. So I get that people like to watch good defense.
Losing by 13 neutral site compared to an OT field goal against an 8 week improved LSU WITH Jefferson back in the line up should negate the at home factor, at worst they both lost to the same team....., I would rank Wins over #12 Penn St, #8 Arkansas, and #20 Auburn over a win over #4 Stanford, who will drop significantly if they do lose the game. I think a rematch would be boring, but IF Stanford and Oklahoma ST lose there is no legitimate argument to be made that someone deserves the second slot MORE than Bama. It will be interesting to see the underlings scramble for the next slot in the next few weeks (assuming LSU remains top dog, and I just don't see Arky knocking them off in Death Valley.
Last time #1 vs #2 in the BCS played, a certain SEC coach lobbied very hard against a team making the mythical NC game if you don't win your conference. So following that logic, Alabama is out.
Lol yep by that logic they are out. I am ending up looking like a Bama fan in these arguments which is ...last thing I need, lol. I'm out. My money is on either Stanford or Ok St winning their big game left and getting a title shot at LSU, leaving all these what ifs, just that.
My hope is that Ok State wins out and plays LSU. Lots of offense vs lots of defense. One has to give. Now that, I would watch without complaining. Maybe.
Sooo TCU just knocked off Boise St. and they were saying on ESPN that Houston was excited that increased their chances of making the NC.......The Stanford-Oregon game tonight is huge, IMO.
