Also, for those interested, Bama is hosting open tryouts for a Kicker Monday afternoon! I'm thinking of driving down to Tuscaloosa and giving it my best! haha
Yeah...Bama would deserve another shot under that scenerio since their one loss would be versus the number #1 team...but I hope that does not happen Another thing that could happen...what if LSU loses in the Sec Title game or to Arkansas...unlikely but not impossible?
Yeah for sure, a lot of football to be played still. Bama still plays at Auburn. LSU has Arkansas at home. Either Bama or LSU has the SEC title game. OK St is looking hot to lose to Oklahoma. Same with Stanford Oregon. Too many what ifs to say a rematch will happen, but its a strong possibility at this point. I'd say the title game is down to 4 teams right now (Ok St, Stanford, LSU, and Bama) a loss by any from here on out will drop them from the runnings IMO.
You have to keep in mind these teams were both averaging close to 40 pts a game going into last night. These aren't bad offenses. What you witnessed were two exceptional defenses with NFL talent at almost every position. Mel Kiper said there were 3 dozen NFL draft picks in that game last night. Let that sink in, 3 dozen. There will not be a rematch and should not be. If LSU would have lost, then I see a remote possibility of a rematch due to their win over what could be the Pac 10 champ and the Big East champ. The only way Bama makes it to the big game is if LSU loses to Arkansas. That 3 way tie will be decided by the highest BCS ranking and will be an epic turn of events. Either way, the SEC champ is almost guaranteed a shot at the natty C and I pity the team they play.
Both QBs were bad. Jefferson makes his first read, and if it isn't open, he either takes a sack, or tries to scramble. Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails. Lee played 2 series. He threw his second pick of the year, then get benched for 4 straight series, then gets put back in all of a sudden, throws a horrible pick. I just don't like switching QBs all the time. I think LSU scores atleast 1 TD with Lee as QB.
Well, looks like you guys covered everything....one thing the boys from BAMA have to think about, they had their chance so many times. The played a game set up for exactly what they do, and lost. Saban (and I never critisize him, except for letting his foot off the gas) outcoached himself. Trying to run outside, trick plays, long field goals knowing our kicker is toast mentally (and physically). It was almost as if he had a grudge with LSU and let that get in the way of what we do. Richardson should have carried the ball 10 more times, and all inside the tackles. Eddie Lacy should have carried it more as well. Oh well I digress, i hope LSU punishes whoever they get, and I hope BAMA grabs Boise St in their BCS game...well unless BAMA somehow back doors the national championship...ROLL TIDE
His intention was to hold, which would have still been a penalty. He never "clotheslined" Dre. He never touched his neck. He grabbed his shoulder, which spun Dre around, and Dre hit his head when he landed on the ground. Yes, it looked bad, but it was not near as dirty as some people are making it out to be.
That was probably the worst football game I've ever watched from start to finish. Part of that opinion has to do with the two week hype, and then the huge let down. It reminded me of last year's national championship game in college basketball. It was brutal to watch, but you kept watching because of what game it was. I wish I could have those 4 hours of my life back.
This game was no worse than that abomination of a game between Michigan and ND. And this will never get old:
Really?, LOL ND Michigan will go down as one of the great games, and the hightlights will be played for many years to come. I did not stay up and watch the bama and LSU game, but I did see all 5 of the field goals on espn, it was great stuff
I guess if terrible offense and horrific field goal kicking is your thing, then Saturday's game was awesome.
horrible defenses vs average offenses or average offenses vs great defenses While one might be more entertaining for the fan, it was certainly not a great game football wise.
Did you know in the sport of football, if you cross the thick white line at the ends of the field, you get whats called a "touchdown". These are worth 6 points, and then are rewarded with the chance of kicking an "extra point" worth 1 point. This sounds more productive then attempting field goals. These are apparently hard to make. If you have no interest in either team, Saturday's game was brutal. Yes both defenses are very good, but there was some bad offense being played in that game as well. Just admit if these teams were in any conference except the SEC, you would be talking about how horrible that conference is.
Thanks for making my point It's what the fans remember. Fans will remember Michigan going 80 yds in 30 seconds.
These two teams are so evenly matched and superior to other teams, I have actually changed my mind on whether I would want to see a rematch or not. I hope they don't allow a rematch, and the Big 10 automatic bid draws Bama and the Big 12 champ gets a shot at LSU. Then you guys will get your 40 pt blowout games everyone has come to love with SEC in BCS games.
I don't know why Bama deserves a rematch. They lost at home. They had there shot in front of 100,000 of their fans. Why do they deserve a rematch? I want Luck.
