Mississippi's stats look similar to that, however when talking to the Dept. of Wildlife we were informed they changed methodologies in estimating total harvest. Could be the same with LA.

PT, I am not sure how much the hurricanes affected our deer herd. I know it affected our economy and therefore amount of hunters. I really believe people are trying to manage more than they ever did in history though. That could have a lot to do with number of kills declining. That, and a lot of people just can not afford to belong to a lease.

    Our numbers still suck!!!:(

Any regulation changes that started around 2004? Also, I would say a 1:4, kill to overall herd ratio is not that bad at all.

Here in Virginia we have an estimated deer herd of 1 million. We killed 250,000 deer last year or a 1:3 kill to overall herd size ratio.
