hey guys I have a PSE Typhoon that is about 4 years old and this upcoming season is my first to be really serious about hunting and I did not notice how loud my bow really was until I heard my dad shoot his new bow next to mine and I was just wondering what the best way to quiet it down because I just see deer jumping my string at anything over 10-15 yards.

currently i do not have anything like a stabilizer or string dampeners or anything like that.

    all thoughts appreciated!

Shoot a heavier arrow, add a string suppressor, stabilizer and Limb Savers, in that order of importance.

Just about any weight you can add to your bow will help (the things you mentioned). Also, the best cure for a loud bow is a heavier arrow.

Lastly, your bow probably sounds louder to YOU than it does to the intended target. Shoot your dad's bow and see if it sounds the same to you. Have him shoot yours.....and listen for the same.

i have shot my dad's bow and it is a lot more quiet than mine and i just bought a dozen new arrows so getting new arrows is out of the question but they are they beman ics hunter 400s im not to sure how those are for weight relative to others but i like them

i guess ill just add a string suppressor and limb savers

also i gave my dad an octane stabilizer for christmas and it made a pretty significant difference in dampening the sound but i have nothing to compare it to, im not concerned that much with balance my bow is comfortable to me as is im just concerned with noise so what stabilizer would yall recommend to dampen noise?

    thanks,
    clint

Any heavy stabilizer will dampen noise just by the addition of weight but those with a dampener (rubber shock absorbers, sand, mercury...) in addition to the weight work best for quieting. I don't like the added weight so I go with one that is just a vibration dampener (Sims S-Coil), with the Sims stabilizer enhancer if it's a real loud or jumpy bow.

ive looked into them before and i was told told by a guy at bass pro (he was knowledgeable) that they could, depending on your bow, not be good for your bow and sometimes make them louder, all depending on the bow of course

Never heard that one. I guess if you set them up completely wrong you might have an issue but you'd have to really try to mess it up. PM MeanV on here and see what he says about putting one on your bow. He makes them.
